Every now and then I like to redo so older pixels that I find worhty of a revamp such as http://www.deviantart.com/view/17808263/ - Castle Blinkenstein . New skills and techniques allow me to do things that obviously I couldn't do before. So, it is my priviledge to bring to you a work in progress of my old http://www.deviantart.com/view/12368716/ - Pixel Bar
This is just the first posting of a piece that will evolve into something far greater. I have ideas in mind but I'm open to suggestions, comments, and ideas.
UPDATED: An animated progression of where I began and where I'm at now.

You can see the original at http://www.deviantart.com/view/12368716/ - http://www.deviantart.com/view/12368716/
Update: Started reworking Pizza Pete's from my old Blink City project which some of you saw at deviantart.

Lemme know what you think should be added or changed. It is far from finished so don't bother to bitch about details aside from the brickwork just yet :)
Another new project is this lil catapult:

Still in the very early stages but, I'd like to know what you think of the frame so far

Nice work so far... you've even got the flip up thingie. The ultimate accessory to this bar would be a bunch of drunkards staggering around.

Frame is looking good so far. I would make the cross member on
the two vertical supports a little longer so you can see one of the
ends, right now it looks kinda funny. Are you doing a limitied
palette on it?

f**k limited palletes on this. It'll be a submission for PixelDam when I'm done. I have plans for this. As for the cross member... you're absolutely right. Actually, here's an image I've based it off of:

Ah, good ref pic. =)
It looks like if that catapult was real, they would have used 4 by 4's
for the structure. On yours it looks like a array of sizes,
especially that forward most crossmember, it looks more like a 2 by 4
to me. And on that slanted on top piece holding the 2 horizontal
pieces together should have a little indent on it, since it looks like,
and I could be wrong, that the top piece is wider then the
bottom. If I am being to over critical, just tell me to shut
up.
I can't wait to see this finished, it would be a great companion to Castle Blinkenstein

Trebuchet, I believe. Probably french.
And no, he said it would be a catapult, which isn't the same thing. But I always get confused when it comes to Ballistas, Warcraft 2 depicted them as giant crossbows, but some medieval books list them as a small variation on the catapult, and simply call the giant crossbows "crossbows".
Stupid mixed info. And I truly hope you make an animated version of it launching a cat.

Trebuchets are similar but aren't. If anyone has seen the movie, The Messenger, they will know what I mean. The movie showed alot of action with those.
As for launching a cat... if anything, it'd have to be a cow a la Monty Python.... but that is a large task I'm not sure I'm up to just yet

I am. I think they look b-e-a-utiful! Dont' see anything wrong with it... yet!
EDIT: Maybe finish the little windows on the right of the wall but delete every other one because it might look overwhealming with so many windows.
EDIT2: Okay, I don't know, I might be wrong but it seems like the floor isn't leveled.

Yeah, you don't find hot chicks at a pizza place! You find fat, single mothers and their seven ugly children running amok throwing meat bits everywhere!
This is really nice Pixelblink, the roof looks delicious. I love the colours you've chosen. \m/

about "pizza" in left part what I see ... steps or floor /enter of house/ ? I can't understend because if I see steps than I must see and wall ? if this is texture of floor maybe need another texture now and .... pfff I show you for what I talk

Nice, Zi. Good eye
To me, it looks odd that the wall of the patio thing goes right arounf the back of the building. It'd make sense to me if it lined up with the (building's) wall, rather than going behind it.
And I see what Zi's saying about the steps and stuff. I think you've gotta take the base along the bottom out, like you did with the front door. Either that, or you need a "watch your step" sign

Zi: Thanks man :) The outside floor will have another texture so that "step" to the pizza place is actually a step.
Sab: Tough cookies because, that wall will stay as it is.

Added new tiles, archway, fixed windows that leel caught for me, and made picnic-style tables. Good times! I still plan to fill out the patio with tables and people/action as well as some shrubbery to add some colour to this thing.

Nice job PB.
I thought you would keep the color scheme for the floor to make it all one theme. But I think adding that other scheme makes it look even better. The table looks really good although it looks like there would barely be anyplace for the legs Very nice job nonetheless.

Updated: Pizza Pete is out front, giving the finger to some kids that didn't pay and ran away. Picnic tables now have leg room as well as occupy the patio area. Some exhaust pipe thingys on the roof. Various shades and shadows and textures added.
I am thinking to add some other buildings to this and then adding it to PixelDam. Perhaps a small apartment building next door? I will still be adding some people in the patio area and some pizzas here and there.

for the people, how about a guy in a pizza-slice costume? there's always someone desperate enough to make some $$... n some bullies throwing stuff. also, add the kids that pete is flipin off.
You should do the apartament building. that way you'll have lots of wall space for interesting ads

Leel: fixed him. Guy in a pizza costume sounds interesting, I may add him. Thanks!
PsychoCarp & everyone else: thanx for you comments and encouragement!
Updates: added apartment building, fixed up the Pizza (that's for you Ryan), corrected pizza guys stance, corrected area size to comply with PixelDam's area, etc, etc.
The apartment is still unfinished as you can see. There will still be many details to add and change on it.

Are you think to add some details inside the pizza building ... with different furnitures and halls ?
About new building I think colours are very cold and this damage good hot atmosphere from brown/orange pizza
You can think for outside waiter area ... or from where basic products come to the pizza or for pollution from pizza area ... something else, because yep new building is good, but like entity ... just another building !
Just some ideas: try and make entrance of pizza like arch and maybe some lantern on the fence ...

Zi: I know, the colours aren't really doing it for me either. What do you think they should be? The outside patio will have some more details: pizzas, customers, waiters, etc.
The light on the fence is a good idea and I think I understand what you mean by the arch. Might give it a try.
Thanx for the ideas!

Just an idea... But there is a pizza place in Manhattan that we
use to go to, and it had an empty lot next to it with just a bunch of
junk in it. Not like whole cars, but like a few tires and such.
One idea I think Zi was trying to get out there is maybe garbage?
What might look good, if you can get it to be noticable and
identifiable is cigarette buds around the sidewalk, not alot, but a few
here and there, you know? Maybe some tiki tourches around the
dining area? That is all I can think of right now... Great
job so far.

The " pizzeria " is much beautiful one, from the peasant and comfortable aspect. To the end, it is an optimal job!!
Perhaps, little more contrast between the parts in light and those in shadow (?)

Man you've improved immensly color-wise! Nice contrast you got there
I would give the apartment building some purple coloring. It would contrast nicely with the yellowish pizzeria...

Man that is good ISO. I've never tryed it but i can allready tell i would suck! personally i think the roof and brick walls look really good. you dont see much shading in ISO, and i can tell it is really hard and usually ends up mucky, but you pull it off nicely.

The apartment building looks sunk.
I drew up some lines in paint and figured out why it looks so. Here.

Your apartment building kinda overlaps the pizzeria. I see that as a problem
And the lines are not because I think you're an idiot (which I don't) I just have no idea how to explain myself.
Oh... err... the blue lines are where your unseen walls do go, and the yellow lines are the maximum space they could be in. So, yellow is where they should be, to my understanding. And green is the outside wall base.

now that's good c/c, Saboteur
Big improvement on the building color. It's very stripe-y though lol, have you considered horisontal siding? Just to see what it would be like... the front of te building the siding is very well shaded but the side of it kinda looks like there are stripes painted on. I think should make the darker lines even darker for more depth.

Sab: thanx dude... I totally f**ked that up didn't I? Must've been on something when I planned this out. Surprising that a few key others didn't see this one either. I'll fix this up obviously.
Leel: Yeah, the colour was pissing me off before. I liked the colour but, it just didn't go well with the pizza place next door. And I'll take that into consideration for the stripes and try em both ways for you to see.
Thanx you two!

I never plan too far in advance. I had only planned to remake the pizza place itself and not expand on it. That said, I was in retard mode and hadn't alot of sleep probably when I started the apartment. Anyways, it's all good now.
