Hello

Have made this stained glass, tried to make a glowing like glass often seen in churches...

so... the glass is strange and need to be improved, also the final bit of the arch of the window... I cant make the stony-like thing I tried to make...

don't care about the wall, the important is  the window and the stained glass...

any suggestions how to improve?

C&C welcomed

Hello Serendor,

Churches are usually quite dark. The windows
are relatively small and the light that comes through
has a great 'heavenly' atmosphere.

So first thing I propose is that you make the background
dark so to really capture the in-church environment.

After visiting a lot of churches I noticed that even the
dust casts the light but my attempt in the edit
is pretty over the top.

On this board I have frequently read to not use
saturated colors, but it might be effective in this case.
To really catch the vibrant colors that are used in the
windows.

For a regular perspective I would suggest to
view the window as a rectangle and make a
cross inside it. Where the lines meet (= cross)
you find the middle. You could use that
middle to make a lead line for your window
and make it to line up with the top.
That will be your reference to make the
middle of your arch.
When you have the arch layed out the best
thing to do is to make little stones that have
lines that meet the middle of the window on
the floor.  BUT . . since your work appears
to be isometric this whole story can be a waste
of time. I never have made isometric pieces
and to be frankly I sometimes find the perspective
really odd .. Maybe some other isometric wizard
on these boards can help you with it.

Best regards from

M.E.

Thanks M.E

I acctually highered the saturation a lot... still it didn't change so much

its isometric yes, and probably in the game engine we will be able to add light source, about particles I really like the idea about them :D

about the window I don't know if it works but will try that method... updating shortly..

Pleas more C&C^^

There are 2 methods to making sweet-looking arches and curves in isometric.

First, you can draw the arch out on your image editing program of choice in regular face-on view.  Then draw a straight line below it.  Next to these, draw an isometric line.  The isometric view you are using is a 2:1 pixel ratio.  That is, for every 2 pixels across, the view is skewed 1 pixel down.  You can recreate this effect by starting on the left hand side of the straight line you drew beneath the window and counting over 2 pixels, then either copy by hand or copy-and-paste that 2 pixel wide block of your arch over to the iso line.  You can continue doing this all the way across your window, ensuring that you are keeping the copied portions of your arch the same distance from the iso line as it was from the straight line in the original.

ORRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.....

You can just select an area around your arch and use the Stretch/Skew function in your image editor.
