you really work quite fast half an hour ago i oly saw the first sketch... maybe put some more depth into the skullface guy, it looks straight from the side now... also, maybe you should make him disappear a bit in the dark background, with strong highlights on the face... a bit more mysterious you know nice work so far though

well, it is a profile view on him, so yeah its straight from the side

update:

I think the cloak looks good only using the red and purple, with a yellow brim/stripe, haven't touched anything else but yeah. I'm going to sketch out some pose ideas later

i agree, a bit. Maybe look at your first sketch, the skull has more depth there. I think the first sketch skull looks good, but the next ones are getting flatter and flatter...

Agreed.

Perhaps make the skull where the eyes are, come inward so that there is more of a brow.

And make the top row of teeth come out with the little "lip" above them.

Good skull reference. (If you want to use it.)

Now, one big question...

Good or Evil?

Evil: Love can be very evil, and I have a design of A devil with his Horns in the shape of a heart.

Good. Make a grenade with hearts coming out of it, and a big heart as a shape on top of the canvas.

And what coulours look best on the design?
(Me personally thinks the "good" palette).

Another question... is transperecy allowed?

My question may be a bit stupid...
In this contest, am i allowed to use black?

No adi4x, they have given a set pallette and you must stick to 1 pallette or the other.

Hard palette. Im not used with these kind of colours. My first idea was a angel. But it was a bit hard. I maby will do a angelsilhuette on a wall (if you think like she is sitting in her bed praying and the full moon gives shadows behind her.

Please C+C im in desperate need of it

dithering madness...

its a Hannya mask

(sometimes the link button doesn't work for me... sorry)

this one is about a woman who turns into a demon... it reminds me of my x-wife... (who is very evil by the way).

still planning on changing the shape of the head around some more

edit: made it darker...

i actually liked the idea of her sitting on her bed with the silhouette casted by the moon you had before..
Anyway, to fill the emptiness, how about adding furniture, toys and stuff to the room?

Yours is nice but maby turn the cross around and skip the tail.

@ Setzer: the lack of anatomical knowlegde in the skull is really, really hurting this piece. The entire face looks way too flat.

You should take another look at that picture Nitty posted. Especially look at how much depth the profile has:

kay, so, mah idea: i'm going to have the grim reaper in a sort of desert-ish wasteland. if i have him on the left (facing right) i would try to give it the effect of "HOLY SHE3T GUYZ I JUST SAW T3H GR1M REAPA!", if i have him on the right (facing right) i would try to make it like a "rockin hell" type theme, yknow like meatloaf album "bat outta hell". still sketchin

Have you ever wondered where Dreaded Overlords get their vast army of identical minions that they use to combat a significantly smaller group of heroes?

They get their armies from another Dreaded Overlord who runs a minion factory that was built by nearly identical minions in the heart of an active volcano. They are then transported via zeppelin to avoid detection and the possibility of ruining plot line.

WIP, horrible with anatomy so it's going to be a rough venture with the guy with the flaming-tipped metal rod.

The good palette was very hard to use. Here is my entry :

it's inspired from a stained glass of St Médard church named : "Saint Michel terrassant le dragon".

I re-shaped the skull again, I can see how it was looking too flat mostly just from the outlines, is it looking better?

also, love the st michael, there was a carving of that very picture on my old church, the dragon was more bony/metally/mechanical looking, but still the same.

@setzer the skull still looks a bit strange, and i think the hood should be a bit lower and follow the skull more. the fire is good thaugt

I realize my attempt at this is futile with the amazing stuff I've seen so far, but I thought I would go ahead and show my work in progress.

A small update

Some more smaller updates.

At this point I think she got a cramp in her neck so she straightened it up.

This MIGHT be my final submission. I will have to check it again tomorrow after work for errors, as I am about to black out.

And now I notice the size restrictions.... Doh!

So here it is with the image size cut down....
lost some of what I really liked, but oh well.

Ive been around for a few months now... I shifted my artistic energy to computer based pixeling after my daughter was born in october.  i am however still banging out a painting here or there, but now just much slower.

as far as your piece goes, the figure is right on and the pallet is hell.  you should have choosen the evil color scheme, at least there's a dark color.

I started working on this competition. The color restriction sorta got to me.  I just slapped the backdrop in there.

I really feel that for me this concept  to look good, it needs a better palette and larger size for the detail to expand. I think i will try re working this before sunday though.

hope he allows it. It would enable me to make some sweet background work i think...
only problem is that there isnt too much time, especially cause i have lots of homework etc xD

I suddenly came at an idea for a non-transparent background, so its finished now:

Much better in my opinion. If you still want to improve it, I think adding difference to the arms would rock. I know they are not just mirrored but that's what they still look like.

The picture looks very nice. It has a serene, zen atmosphere to it. I love the signature too.
Looks great :)

i think its stupid how voting on the pieces starts so early. everyone that then posts their work late gets no votes because everyone has voted already. you should send them in, and then the adminposts them up all togetehr at the end.

Well I'm working on a new picture really inspired from the stained glass of St Médard church this time, not a simply color reduction. Here is the WIP :

and the last render :

I must still work the Dragon and some graduate colors in the background.
