UPDATES BELOW
My portfolio is a mix of code & art, so im attempting to blend those two styles with a technical/clean layout on top of a pixel art background.
Im trying to base all the visuals on the theme of "development" and the idea of being "new & fresh".
Im thinking of having a city as the background, maybe a city under construction or something of that nature. I haven't actually pixeled anything at this point, just sketching out ideas.

^^ Updated
I started on a simple bg. Not quite what I was expecting, but I kind of like the simplicity.

Some really nice work, the idea is very nice.
I actually prefered the sketch.. I thought I idea of Pixels in Progress with a sketch behind to be quite funny.

I want my site just like that and will RIP you as soon as you're done. You may report me at that time.
ps: To those that are unaware of the 'RodderMastery', learn to bow humbly and respectfully at his feet.

@Skull : For some reason I always like the sketch more than the artwork lol. It'd look a little unfinished though :P
@jal : eh, alright. It's a deal...
Added some details and things. It kinda bothers me that the artwork is so simple....but style comes before technique imo.
Specifically how are the cars? They're really hard to do at that size. Also note the "taxi" driving the viewer to my portfolio (nerd joke lol)

This is looking real nice Rodder. I like the simple style but the effect is great. Hope to see progress on this.

With the rollovers being in that red shade, which I love, I would stear clear of using such saturated reds in the BG cars and cones. Too distracting.

I see what you mean. I was just going for some extra unity between the layout/bg as they're such seperate styles...but I probably have enough with the shapes/outlines.

You would think...but OUR site design seems to be a pixel BG 'space' on which panels in their own space slide in (their shadow defines that). Having any sort of tie between the two distinct spaces will make all OUR pieces less showcased.

Another update.
I added a few new details and changed up the layout a bit. I think im going to go with just a single content panel for usability reasons. I'll keep the 2nd one there just for interest/depth (it also overlaps like the buildings do).
