So.. making sprites is pretty much dolling, no? I decided I needed to get back into this pixelling business you're all so crazy about, so I made my first sprite today. CC please cause I was just making stuff up as I went along.. are there any ruled/guidelines for this, or just whatever you want goes?   I don't like the pants.. |

Well, the pants are good. The size/place/angle of the side pocket does seem wierd. I never thought about sprite restrictions...hmmm. I would say anything goes and possibly coming up with something new or reinvented is the ideal. I see you're still in the green/brown palette phase. This is my Earthy period, don't judge me! So.. the size and color count is ok? The pocket is weird, I'll try to make it less angled. Yeah... this isn't really anything new or reinvented. I just wanted to try a really generic do- er.. sprite and see how it goes. I was thinking of doing a series of some sort, just to force myself to practice - any ideas? ------------- |

The color count is way fine. You could add a few and still be ok. I do wonder why the dithering on the flesh only. *cuz its a WIP stooopid ------------- |

looks pretty good...no real crits from me.
What's the chances we can get you into animation?! Then you can make sprite sheets....which makes stuff look so much cooler :P |

I'll do animation later. I realized the other day that I haven't really done anything in pixel art other than like.. avatars, so I need some solid practice before getting in over my head. I dunno about the dithers, I really wasnt planning to dither the clothes. I think I'll smooth out the skin tone then, you can't really see the texture on my screen, does it look weird on yours? ------------- |

I think you should put down the hair 1 pixel, the forehead looks kind off big in my oppinion. And her right arm looks kind off strange at the elbow. Maybe you should remove the lightest shade on her right shoe, it's a bit distracting. |

yeah i have to turn the foot to face us, but thats how it came out in the original sketch and i havent worked on that yet.. same with the hand. As for the pose, I was trying to make it like both feet are on the ground but since one of them is behind her, i made it higher up, but i guess it doesn't come accross that way.. maybe I could make her be mid-air in a jump? ------------- |

ens you're getting way ahead of me, I'm still just focusing on the basic shapes (i just started shading cause i was bored waiting for cc last night) the selout and smoothing out the arms will def come later.. i havent even done the hands yet! heh, I think you just wanted to zoom in on the bewbs :D I'll move down the bellybutton and do her hair. Hey guys, long time no post for me. Im a bit stunned at this thread. Yeah i know there is always room for improvment and all but if i did something this good i would submit straight away. Mind you, with enough time on my hands it would be possible.
Right crits from me: You have a lot more stray pixels dotted all around the place and the hands are a very weird shape, who's hands did you use as a reference to them?!?!? lol! Anyway, im back for a while, Benn away working on an iso project, and still havent done much to it. I know you haven't finished the arms on your friends yet but one is shorter/longer then the other. and bring down the shading of her arm pit or it will look a little like hair :P (though she could be the hairy type what with the frolicking topless in front of you, combined with your "Earthy" look... LESBIANS). she also seems to be missing a highlight making her look a little flat (not like that you pervs). Also the sprite of you has VERY flat feet and seeing as your pants are a little loose your arms seem a little short to me. Also your hands still need work, no skipping ahead and avoiding the hard stuff that should apply to your friends sprite as well (hands are hard and i sympathies but please do them). so yeah, all of it's looking good EXCePT ALL B00B1ES N33D TO BE BiGgER MWAHAHAHAHAHH!1!!11!... *cough* yep thats serious crit by the way i will give you an edit if need be... anyway my hands are tired from all the typing... yes i mean typing (lol sleaziness is awesome). |

yeah stray pixels and all that are really nothing to worry about at the moment, I'll make it transparent anyway, i just don't like white backgrounds, they hurt my eyes. AND 1. She goes topless cause she's hot, not cause she's a lesbian. 2. How does me liking green and brown make me lesbian? 3. How does frolicking make you lesbian? Just admit it, you wish she was your friend instead. It's ok to be jealous. now to back to business 1. I purposely left out a highlight on the skin, because well skin isn't that shiny.. and her stomach is flat.. i thought it was ok.. and I was trying to keep with the style of 2 shades for the most part.. so I'll play around with that, but i think i'll stay with just those shades. 2. I dont see what you mean about the feet, they're covered by the pants so only the tip is visible... and besides I always wear flats so I was kinda exaggerating that i guess just to make it more... me. I'll see what i can do.. 3. ok i feel bad for rejecting all the things you mentioned, but the arms seem fine too.. if you straighten them out they'll be about mid thigh, which is where they're supposed to reach.. the pants are loose, but they're also just low.. so reference the crotch not the top of the pants. i probably wont have time tonight but i'll keep working on those. i actually wasnt planning to submit these, but i guess i should. it's been forever since I did anything in the gallery. ------------- |

lol, you don't allways wear flats m'dear.. i remember some spiffy pointy green shoes. deffo not flat.
i'd like you to put back the one pixel on the bottom front of your left shoe, so i'd look more like having a sole. it allso looks a bit like your boobies are at different heights, but what do i know, they just might be ;)
tania looks a bit skinny, or with an elongated torso, and i think the mouth is AAed a bit too much for this size (yes i know you love AA)

Ok maybe i was being a little hopeful about the lesbians thing... A man can dream  + of course I'm jealous.Now as for the crits, my justification regarding the highlight was based on the assumption that these pieces are going to be used together. Seeing as you had a rather snazzy looking final highlight on the character of you, I was hoping to see it on her also. Without it her face in particular seems to lack depth in my opinion. I'm not sure whether or not you like the look at all but it also serves as a nice colour to shade and/or AA the bra with:  I do know that you are trying for a smooth cartoony look so maybe this way of highlighting isn't the best. Though it does match your previous sprite a bit better. The tips of just your footwear showing was something i thought might have been the case. But then i think the foot furthest from us should be pressing the bottom of the jeans out slightly, or the shoes front should be brought in a little, could you show me exactly where your foot is im a little confused. Either way:
