The entire piece lacks contrast - You should make the shadows darker, and add more texture to it - make the outline a bit jaggy to represent fur. I also didn't realise those were the cat's paws until a few seconds. You also need to define a clearer light source - it's the only way you'll portray form effectively.
Also, instead of making a plain black outline, you could make a darker outline of the color of the object you're doing. Makes the outline less shocking. |

Take off the black outline. Also, his feet should be showing... it looks like they were cut off. ------------- |

The black outline doesn't do much for the piece around it. It just makes it look jagged and strange. Maybe if you used more selective outlining and not black, a darker yellow, it wouldn't look so jagged. ------------- |
