Description

With her daughter murdered and farmhouse destroyed, Autumn Nightshade takes matters into her own hands.

The gameplay can basically be described as Final Fight meets Contra.  Instead of brawling with 2 or 3 guys, you're facing 8 or 10 on screen.  Them, like you, can quickly be killed in one or two hits.  Use your shield effectively and attack only when given an opportunity to prevail.

Various level types are planned:
A. Assault - Cut your way through waves of units to capture a specific target (solo).
B. Defend - Hold the line as waves of units try to destroy what you're protecting (solo or group).
C. Battle - You and AI controlled allies fight in an all-out war with the opposing side (group).
D. Timed - Achieve a certain objective in a limited amount of time (solo or group).

The final goal should be an over-the-top action game with many ways to die and only your reflexes to keep you alive.  Fast and frantic.

Target Aim:
I'd like to put it together as a shareware game, but we'll see what happens.

Technology:
GroZ2D game engine - C# / XNA.  The engine is mature and just waiting for more gameplay to be thrown at it.

Talent Needed:
Spriter - You'll be responsible for drawing the characters of the game.
Tile Artist - You'll be responsible for drawing the levels of the game.

Previous Work By Team:
My latest project was http://members.gamedev.net/trapperzoid/web/MAGIC_results.html - PowerTowers for the MAGIC GameDev contest.  It scored #1 in Gameplay but lost in presentation (I have no art skills ;)).

Additional Info:
Here's a link to an early gameplay proof of concept video:

The sprites are from another game, but similar looking sprites are what we're going for.

Here's a few concept sketches from Glassflakes:
