I have kind of neglected the pixeljoint forums so I thought I'd post this up here, as well as pixelation. Sorrry for not bein' around guys. :)

So my monitor was apparently calibrated very poorly for quite a good while but I managed to alleviate the problem as soon as I found out. But not before I created countless pieces of yellow tinged art.  :'(

Anyways, I've been doing far too much NPA lately so I decided to pick up a small gig making some backgrounds. Ten/Seven 800x600 backgrounds seemed like too much of a task for me to do in my free time so after some finagling and bartering I got them down to 150x600. I figured that it'd be a great opportunity to sharpen my tiling skills since my image would tile indefinitely and appear 5 times on the screen at any given moment in time. As a tribute to my unfortunate monitor situation I decided to sprite this piece with some yellow and orange overtones.

Any c&c is appreciated as usual. It's a bit early but it's coming along nicely. Eventually there will be another image in the background and there will be some more stuff placed between the foreground and the path. It'll be chock full of parallax scrolling although I haven't yet decided how I'm going to break up the pieces.

My only observation it the size of the path in relation to the green space just below it. They seem unbalanced as compared to the foreground rock/plants.

It's unbalanced now but hopefully I will alleviate that. My goal is to fill in that gap with a whole lot of foliage which scroll independently from the foreground and the path/playing field.

I really like it so far but the second tree limb from the bottom is way too long.

I'm not really sure if you're going for this particular aspect of it, but the trees are quite strangely formed. Generally you don't see a tree simply split evenly into two branches from the trunk--one side is almost always clearly dominant and the other becomes an offshoot. This is also a problem with the smaller tree that's placed between each of the large trees. That smaller one is also REALLY wide for the length and thickness of its branches. Going back to the main trees, the branches from the trunk below the major split are far too large--they're practically bigger than the trunk. I also have to agree with the outlaw about that branch; it's massive, it doesn't have any subgrowth and it subsequently has a funky shape. The bark texture is amazing everywhere though, I can almost feel it and you're probably not even done with all of it yet.

EDIT: Typo.

I'm glad that I put this piece up for critique because there were some glaring issues I somehow completely overlooked. Namely the funky trees.

I decided to redo them almost entirely and I feel it's turned out a ton better. I also revisited the sizing and placement of the path. The foreground seems slightly smaller than it should be so I'm kind of hung up on whether or not I should redo that.

Anyways, hope this clears up the main concerns people've had with it.

Heck yes, it clears up those concerns. As a monkey I vouch for the realism of those trees now.
