I know my hedgehog piece still isn't complete but I wanted to start this one as well. In the end, they're supposed to be the hanging gardens of Babylon. At the moment....it's ermm....an isometric mess.

All I want to know right now is whether it's isometrically correct and whether I've made any errors with perspective and such. The shading is there just so it's easier to differentiate between different parts of the 'building', it's not going to stay like that.

Looks fine to me. Just looks like the blocks aren't all aligned with eachother is all, which is fine. Hell, I'd love to see more of it in people's iso pieces.

EDIT: Actually, where that towering block meets with the 4 big blocks, on the right side of that connection, it doesn't match the left side of the connection, the line just sort of trails off instead of being an elbow like the other one. Hope I made sense there.

If you were going for symmetry you have some alignment problem I think. Baby cube and the next bigger one along with the floating thinner one are not in the same alignment with the same items on the other end. I think the ones up front are the wrong ones and the farthest back correct. Use floor grid to find the alignment.

Okay, time for take two. Did I manage to get the symmetry right this time?

You've got a couple of jaggies on one of your flat blocks which I've circled in red:

EDIT: Sorry for not commenting on the symmetry. I know precisely nothing about iso and I didn't feel qualified. Hope I didn't come off as snotty.

Well...I've now, hopefully, finished with the 'base' of the hanging gardens, which means the wall textures. The colours may change when I am finally able to use my own computer. (It's a bit too brown for my taste at the moment)

Okay. Time for another update. What do you think of the plants? Are the trees still iso? And what do you think of the colours?

Hello Marilii,

Ah finally some grass and trees!!
I think the wood works quite nicely but
the greens are all a bit too similar.
Especially when the tree covers the
large building it blends in too much.

Try differentiate the greens. The three
trees should have all quite different
leaves and colors.

Good luck!

Best regards from

M.E.

I believe it's time for another update. I made a goal of keeping the colour count at 32 colours or less, so I couldn't have too many greens. But if you think the colours are still too similar, please, let me know.

Otherwise, do you think I can call this finished?

I don't know if you are at 32 colors already but the 'garden' part seems to be missing still. Pools and greenery theres plenty. I would like it better if you made it less boxy wherever possible by adding decorations and details. But it may also be deemed finished :/

Hi Marilii,

The water effect is really nice!
But I think you can still do a better job with the
trees and the grass. Your hedgehock mockup
had a really good tree and the grass looked better
was well. I'm not an expert on color-re-use but
I would expect that you could use the browns
from the lowerright water blocks.
Maybe you can experiment with a brown box
in the middle instead of a green one. Also
the shadow area you made with just one
brown could maybe have different colors
to give it more depth.

Looking forward to another update!

Best regards from

M.E.

Redid the grass (using the 'ihopesmalltuftsofgreenlooklikegrass' technique, lol) and most of the trees. I tried to figure out how to make it less boxy but...that's where my brain stops working :S Also tried to give it more of a 'garden' look. Might have failed there, lol.

Any CC welcome :D

EDIT: As noone seems to have anything to say, I'm going to post it. A great big THANK YOU to all that helped :D
