Drawing, pixelling, painting and so forth, anything like that. Did you get taught at a school, read a self teaching book, or just observe?

I dont think you can learn pixelart, it's more of a personal discovery, influence by pretty much every other artists and games. I Personally think that every art forms can be shown, but never taught, since everyone is so unique and theres no actual magic formula to how to draw, or how to create artistic composition.

For my case i learn to draw by myself and some books, and peoples that gave me tips and then went into digital art, and got hooked on pixelart, deviantart was a big help for me, so did pixelerate and pixeljoint who is still a big help. As for arts in general, i'm now a student in college exploring different art forms and becoming slowly a full fledge proffesional artist.

I've been drawing forever, I didn't actually take any classes until this past year.  The one in school taught me nothing I didn't already figure out myself, but this portrait class I took at a local University I learned a whole lot!

And I agree with Di0, my teacher didn't teach me how to draw, he just gave me proportion guidelines and taught me to simplify the things I see and really see things instead of just assuming what may or may not be there.  The pencil on paper bit we did by ourselves XD

I used to play this game called Tribes: Aerial Assault on PS2, and everyone had all these sigs and avatars on the forum using photoshop and I was way to poor for that fancy stuff so I started making my own stuff in MSPaint.

It was mostly scribbly stuff but back then it was pretty spiffy looking. I'm currently getting better slowly but surely.

i have spent far too many years playing videogames not to pixel.  it just seemed like a natural evolution.

I was always drawing, since I can remember. I actualy went to variouse schools/colleges that teach art and especialy game art.

For pixeling itself, it was more a neccesarity in the beginning, since I was creating games with "Click & Play", and didn't want to use the premade graphics, so I had to do my own. That was about 10 years ago or something.
Back then I didn't even know it was called Pixel-art, and most of it looked realy bad. Still, I was proud and I still have loving memories on my first trys
as a gamedesigner and pixelartist... Wish I still had some old screenshots.

Did many drawings at a young age and comic strips as well as animation on my amiga. Then went to animation college and got trained in 2D traditional (mainly do 3D now though...). Then started doing a comic book using pixel art, but not knowing that much about it. I then finished the pixel side of it and then found this community and though it would be a good way to get back into 2D again.

Best reason I've heard so far.

As for me, I've been drawing for as long as I can remember. Some of the stuff I learned from school, some of the stuff I learned from looking at my favorite comics, everything else just kind came to me in time.
