I decided to take part in the PC-Engine Scene, and do some sprites and tiles for a PCE vertical shooter currently in the works. So here's what I've done to date... I'll add the new ones as I progress.

a larger enemy mech.
a very small 16x16 enemy, not much to say, heh :P
a medium sized enemy, dig those 3 frame thruster animations.
a smaller enemy, thought about letting it fire long straight lasers.
a very large mini-boss. the turrets in the second shot are detatchable, still need to animate the turrets.

C&C appreciated.

Hi Squirrelsquid,

Great Sprites!
The smaller ships have nice thrusters.
The very large sprite kind of lacks the same
effect. It looks like a failing engine...
And at first I thought that the boss
was turned. The nose looked like a
thrust fire. Maybe you can change the
color on that nose?

Best regards from

M.E.

here's a very weird looking one:
fear the TEDDYHEAD!

@ M.E. the thrusters will be animated a lot faster, ingame, it's just a lack of the .gif format. glad you like it! :)

thanks, jal :)
I noticed, that the Teddyhead could also be a cellphone... anyway got some new stuff again. here's a real bear:

oh, and I tried my hand at a player ship:

Hi Squirrelsquid,

Love the TeddyHead .. Please keep that one!!!
The 'real' bear is a bit dark to be playing outside
where the stars are

Hopefully the game will let me choose one of the
others as being the one that I play with. I like to
play with one of the enemies ships instead of
the current player ship.
The current player sprite lacks a bit of expression.
(Reminds me of zaxxon)

Keep up the good work!

Best regards from

M.E.

Teddyhead could also be a futuristic pez dispenser :D

Anyway, I love the sprites.

haha, I might make edits of teddyhead, like a cellphone, a pez dispenser or a handheld videogame console ;)
anyway, here are 2 new ones, the P.A.N.D.A.-bomb, and some mech dude.

played with teddyhead a bit... turned him into a cellphone!

the head can slide down, just like the enemy to reveal dial-buttons.
the phone also has a touchscreen and stylus, as well as real fire buttons (the bears face), and a directional pad.

Hehe, I've also been working on 9-bit PC-Engine/TurboGrafx-16 sprites and tiles for a while.  I showed Squirrelsquid some of my work and he was compelled to offer some of his help in making these graphics for these games.

There are two PCE Super CD-ROM2 games we are currently working on right now.  One is a run-n-gun contra type game called 'PC-Gunjin'.  The other is a vertical shmup called 'Xymati'.

here's some more PCE-stuff... though these 2 aren't for one of the 2 games.
the first is some sidescroller stuff:

and some sprites and tiles that are inspired by the gameboy game, Cosmo Tank.

EDIT:
here's another enemy of the vertical shoot em up:

Hi SquirrelSquid and FragMarE,

Hmmmm nice jummy saturated colors.
M.E. like except for the browns in the bg
of the tank game. Maybe they should be
a little darker to really pop out the
sprites?

I modified the red enemy a bit. and did a second, that can seperate it's arms.

@M.E.: yea you'r right about the colors

Edit: another one!

and again a new one!

this one is tiny and took me roughly 8 minutes to pixel, animate and upload. wanted to see how fast I can do a sprite.

here's some more graphics, some background tiles:

I did the blueish rocks, FraGMarE did the (unfinished) lava.

and just for kicks, here's a little idea of mine:

remember, the tactics mockup is not in the PCE color-space...
anyway, played with the cellphone a bit. will make a longer animation soon,
that I'll upload to the gallery. in the meantime, here's the Panda phone rotated 90°.

Frag why don't you start a thread for your art? It would be easier to keep track of who's who. I miss the old saturated palette; who started all this desaturation nonsense?
