For those who don't know, Thornton Reed is a character in a show called "Garth Marenghi's Darkplace" who is played by the character Dean Learner who is in reality played by Richard Ayoade. Anyways, that's just so you understand it's not Samuel L. Jackson with a shotgun

So anyways, here it be... A future shock that'll sh*t you up (ok, not really).

Here's the reference for Thornton/Dean:

And the reference for the shotgun:

Thanks for any advice and criticism in advanced

Hello Anonymous1c4,

Welcome aboard!

Very nice start!
I like the colors and general stand.

Some comments:

- His sleeve is shorter in your reference picture.
- The jacket can be one or two pixels shorter
  around the shoulder area.
- Your sprite is really thin, you might give him
one pixel thickness. (Maybe on both sides)
- Base of the gun is really short. You have
a reference that is a digital image.
Please make sure you are using a correct
, or as correct as possible, reference.
I cannot believe a real rifle having such
a small base. But I'm far from a gun
expert. I would use this one:

( Can you please use next time the link icon
in the editor if you are referencing something?

It makes life easier for us )

Looking forward to your updates!

Ah, fixed the links. Sorry about that

Also, I'll try to update soon, but since school just started a couple days ago, I've been a little busy. I'm guessing I won't be too busy once I have everything set. Luckily, I have a class where I can do "independent studies" on the computer, which basically means I can do whatever I want as long as it's constructive use of photoshop, flash, dreamweaver, or whatever. So, I can work on this there as well (or any other work for that matter)

Also, is this good for a different reference for the shotgun?

or I could just use a screen from the show (although the screenshot is pretty low quality)?

The one you posted is a single-barrel so that's why I tried looking for a pump action.

Anyways, thanks for the comment

Hi Anonymous1c4,

The first reference is great. The action reference is also good
for everything except the base of the gun since that
is hidden by the arm....
Good luck with your classes. And even if you work on it
for a year, you still could come back to it in the vacation(s).

Best regards from

M.E.
