But in all actuality, the games I tested didn't seem to work very well, and the whole site is a bit broken--obviously the customizable part of the games run on an interpreted language/scripting etc, through flash which itself is being run in a browser. That's going to cripple speed for anything. Additionally, the paint program/graphics editor that the site has is also suffering from these problems, making the creation of graphics through the web app infeasible: I won't wait 3 seconds for the line tool to finish selecting. The idea is okay, but doing it as a web application destroys the usability. It's not worth it to sacrifice the functionality of a project for social networking of its users--if the thing sucks it doesn't matter how easy it is to share the products because very few people will have the patience to put up with a braindead implementation of the thing long enough to create something of any decent quality.

If you actually looked, especially in our featured games, the games are very good, and so is the art, especially in my friend Hooliganza's games.

If you are having any problems with the speed of making art, or anything else, you probably have a probably have something very wrong with your internet connection.

 

One more thing, keep in mind that the entire site was made by one person, so lets see if you could do anything near this.

This game making site isn't made for 30 year olds who are pros at pixel art.

 

It is made for late pre-teens and teens who want to make their own games.

 

They do not know how to use RPG maker, or any of these other tools.

 

That is why RPG Maker FAILED by the way.

 

So you are making fun of all these people on this site, whos ages range from about 12 - 20, and all the people who have put hours into their work. I can notice you also spit on everyone who posts on this site that does not pixel as well as you.

You claim that the site is not for 30-year-olds but for teens and people in their twenties. This I can understand; it is the audience demographic the site looks for. Many of the users of pixeljoint fall into this group.

 

You claim both that they don't know how to use RPG Maker and that RPG Maker failed. The latter part is shocking to me: I had always thought of it as extremely successful in being widely used and adknowledged, if illegally most of the time. It is also quite easy to use if you will take a small amount of effort to read the help file or online tutorials. I used it myself when I was young (ten or eleven) but gave it up because of the limited nature it imposes, moving to Game Maker, which still has limitations and isn't much better. So learning to use RPG Maker isn't that much of a problem and I don't think it was a failure.

 

You claim that I/we am/are making fun of everyone on the site as well as the creator. I was trying to point out the flaws that deterred me from the site, not make fun of it or its userbase. I may have made negative comments pertaining to the site and games, but I was not trying to personally degrade or offend anyone.

 

You claim that we at PixelJoint spit on those who pixel with less skill than we have. This is slander and completely untrue. Those who are "spit on" are those who lack both maturity and the want to improve their art. I personally love seeing new members who honestly want nothing more than to improve their art and use our comments to do so while increasing their skill. But those who lack the patience and maturity to do pixel art well often also lack the patience and maturity to improve it or respond reasonably to good-natured critique, lashing out at suggestions as if they are personal attacks or insults. This is usually because of age and maturity will increase as they grow older. When they are more mature they may return to the site and improve their pixel skills with our help and approval, no matter how bad at pixel pushing they are.

 

You claim that I should feel ashamed. I don't feel ashamed for voicing my opinions, opinions which I feel are not radical or offensive but rather logical and constructive. I'm sorry if this lack of shame is offensive to you or decreases the positivity of your opinion of me or this site. Thank you for your time.
