Um? What was that link for? But yeah, I guess it's OK if it's a hat.

I think you need some more clear definition within the hat, as I'm finding it a bit difficult to read... for example, (what I think is) the brim is fading into the top of the hat rather than having a distinct fold, making it hard to define the shape you want.
It's a neat start, keep at it!

Kay, this any better?

I tried what you said, also tried to make the visser look more visser-like.

do NOT use photobucket for your pixels, as it automatically converts your image to JPEG. I recomend you www.Imageshack.us.

also, try to add more volume to that visser, so it would not look as if it was made of paper.

What? No it doesn't. I use photobucket all the time... silly boy.

About the hat: it doesn't look like one. It doesn't really look like anything.

I know, I just use Photobucket those few times because Imageshack was having problems, here's a non-Jpeged one:

I will edit the visser later, I got to do mah' homework now... T_T

Photobucket only JPGS .bmp images. If you save them as .png. They stay .png.

...and Photobucket is fine with .gif too. never had problems with it...

regarding the piece:
It's pretty hard to imagine where exactly the head would fit in.
I'd work out a circular shape that clearly fits on you every-day human head.

#1-yours
#2- The lineart I mentioned being dirty in pink. I also recolored the rest of that line using greys instead of the black. Desaturated the reds here too. You have too many reds there, btw. 2 at least are not needed.
#3+4- cap with a tail thing. Your cap is actually ok except for the pink line where your line there is actually opposite to it. I suggest changing this so it 'looks' like a hat. Use this yellow part of the hat to make more sense of the red things, whatever they may be.

ps: the dithering when zoomed is actually pretty good. Some areas show skill. I was surprised by this for some reason. Good job.

EDIT: #2 also has some added contrast to the grey color ramp

It's looking better all the time.
The flap/thing just doesn't look right, at all.
Please, please, once and for all, explain what that is?
why is it there?
why is it needed?
Couldnt red eyes compensate?

I would first refine the lightsource on the hat. before taking another step.
A good opportunity to smooth (aa or selout or combo) your edges.
This won't look good on a BG and if you aren't aware I let nothing in with uselss BGs, ya know.

Too much flow.
You'd have to figure absorbsion would take place since you do not
have a slick surface (told you to figure out the lightsource, didn't I).
Right side blood to the bill with the right eye just beginning to flow, I'd say.

Posted By: Metaru
Date Posted: 02 October 2007 at 6:31pm
then EXPLAIN that you ... ehm... """"""hat""""" is made of leather.
also, leather, spandex or mithril, it doesn't matter the material, the blood should follow laws of gravity and flow. if its on a surface, the blood should make a little pond below the """"hat""". if not, well, figure it out.

Edit: -_-; you know how, on a sorta' rainy day, the rain drops cling to the edges of your unbrella befor falling down? that's kinda' what I was trying to do

Posted By: MashPotato
Date Posted: 02 October 2007 at 6:35pm
It's improved greatly from your first attempt, nice work   I think there's too much blood on the brim; for example, how is the blood flowing upward so much?  For the lightsource issue, i think more shadow could be added to the cap portion to our left; notice how the brim is in shadow at that point, but the light on the cap seems to go much further.  I'm not great at lighting, but it seems a bit off there.

EDIT: written before the edit

AA = anti-alias
A technique used on the edges of pixelart to smooth jaggy areas.

sample of AA - zoom and look at the blue flames on the edges notice how where there are steps in jaggies the colors go from dark to light colors.
../ws/player.asp?u=full/conceptcar03.gif">

Of course you can choose to,
SelOut =Selective Outlining
Zoom in and notice how the lineart is colored using different shades wher needed to smooth the edges as much as possible.

Hello SkullMaster,

Great improvement here!

The red isn't doing it for me. Blood, like water, flows
differently. If you would stop the flow at his nose
, like you did with the other eye, I think it will
be better.

Looking forward to more great improvements!!

Best regards from

M.E.

I don't think there should be such a deep shadow right in the center of the.. err.. flap thing?   It's curved, so the center should be your midtone, not your darkest shade.

But yeah, great improvement ^__^ gj

I don't think that BG is the right call for this.
The color is very wrong and the busy nature of it doesn't add to the subject at all.
Maybe this is the kind of thing best left on a transparent BG.

You have made this thread one of the best WIP threads in a long time.
Your dedication to sticking it out and your ability to take and learn from
the c+c given has earned you loads of respect and admiration. At least from me. I look forward to when its complete and added to the gallery so that
you can move on with all your new learned skills.
The Pixelween challenge has begun and I encourage you to enter it.
As you well know, you can make a WIP thread and get help as you need it.
