Does this place require everyone to be perfect or something? I don't understand why my pieces weren't allowed on, something about the members didn't vote it on. Oh well, I guess I'm not good enough for a gallery here... ?

Kinda defeats the purpose of asking for a revision if you don't know what it is you have to revise. Kinda discouraging that your first submissions to the gallery are rejected and you aren't given an explanation on what to improve. Oh well.

Imagine how we feel giving you any sort of advice, help or guidance
if you don't show your creation : /

Perfection is not required but some level of skill is.
I don't see why YOU are not good for the gallery,
sounds like enough members thought your pixelart
wasn't gallery ready, is all.

Well I figured since it was voted off I thought you guys knew what it was.

Both of them were complete. And I can see that some people may not have liked the second one because it was creepy... but that's kinda the point. D:

It was not me that sent these back, but will be honest.
The second IS creepy, but is not badly pixelled. Some anatomical
things could be better, like the shading on the cheek and the eye
is ON the face and not really part of it. I don't even recall this being
in the queue and if it makes you feel any better I would have added it.
It could use better shading and better define volumes.
Every Mod has their opinion tho and one did send it back.

The first Mario you must admit is weakly colored. Its not pillow-shaded
but does use very weak choices. The lightsource is all over the place,
and you can't define its source. There is an almost negative coloring.
Add to this that its a Mario. An image we all know so well. When using such
a common subject any flaw or error only stands out more than it would with
another subject matter. The layout is a mess because if you attempt to
show anything in space, and especially floating and you crop 2 sides and make
the other 2 sides 'tight' then the illusion is not met and adds to the overall
flaw in your pixel.

Its not personal and you should not take it as such. Edit, fix, correct or make
something else. Just like you posted here, next time post a WIP thread first to
get some feedback so that you don't get your artistic sensibility hurt again.

The shading on the first one is based off of official art... oh well. =[

Thanks.

In any case, compare these two to your Sonic fanart (in your gallery).

Well the initial problem was that all I got was a message telling me that my art wasn't approved because it needed revising. It would be different if I had known what needed revising.

Well it's an automated system so that users are directed to post here for individual help once the system has determined that a piece needs revision by general opinion. The current system doesn't give immediate detailed issues each piece has because it would be very difficult to get a large amount of opinions if all of them had to be well-developed critiques and not yes/no votes. Critiques are for the WIP forum; posting in the gallery is usually a second step (following a WIP topic) or for finished works that one is confident are exemplary of their fullest ability.

Sedgemonkey really needs to add a line to the revision messages stating that you must post the image in your topic, though; nobody ever posts the image the first time around.

Hopefully you stick around and get to know this site some more as you improve your pixels; if you maintain a positive attitude you'll get all the help you need.
