It was first intended to be an axe
I`m really happy with it so far.

The first sketch for the axe is awesome! you really should try to make an axe with it too! about the hammer: I would remove those inner black lines, and change them to some light grey..
also, the dot and the stripe arnt needed any more now its a hamer.. and the handle should be a bit more to the right, and you should be able to view the top of the handle on the other side of the hammer I think..
I could make an edit if you want me to :)

Nice! I really like the experimental palette for the handle btw :)
I fixed a few things hre and there.. made the other part of the handle shorter, changed the light on the hammer (I changed it to the way the light shines on the handle), I made the handle follow the part that comes out of the hammer (they dont connect exactly now) and I maybe did some other things as well :)
Watch it, and try it yourself if you like the new result :)

Very good, but I see some problems.

It hasn't enough exiting detail. Try for something like this: http://www.columbiacostumes.com/Images/Weapons/hammer_war.jpg - http://www.columbiacostumes.com/Images/Weapons/hammer_war.jpg
And yes, your lighting was off like Lollige said. The cracks are a little too... overbearing? Prominent? "Out there?" So is the lighting. The colors on the hammer are too bright and have too much contrast. Rocks are dull, not shiny. Assuming this is a rock, with the cracks and all. If it is, dither.

Ill try to add more detail later on and change the colours

Personaly I liked the old handle better.
More crits:
  • The lightest grey should be a little lighter.
  • Also, take out the yellows and browns inbetween the cracks.
  • Make the grey a little bit blue, but not much.
  • Make less cracks! If it were this cracked, it would be pebbles
  • Change the hammer design to what I showed you.

Alright, I'm done.

New update

Did almost all the changes that BlackDragon pointed out.
But I don`t want to change the design because this hammer is a
tool and not a weapon

maybe later I would make a fighting hammer

I don't think it needs to be redesigned at all. The style is simple and effective.

Having said that though, the head still looks very crumbly. Also, the perspective is wrong on the top, where the handle comes through the head. That curve should be going the other way. I'd be happy to do an edit if this makes no sense.

Quick edit.
I:
Took away lots of the cracks, made the hanlde look like wood, dithered, touched up.
This is for a more realistic effect, it may not work for this peice. I'm not sure what to think...

EDIT: Oh, I didn't realize that this was a tool. It doesn't need to be redesigned. I would like it if you made a set of these lil' tools ^^ Especially that axe.

EDIT 2: OMG, put that new hammer in a new post!

The rock is too rough now really. I think you need to take some cracks off.

The handle is crap, but note the highlights used to give the cracks more depth and the proper perspective on the top of the head.

No problems : )

Is the top of the wood aligned to the handle or is it an optical illusion that makes it seem unaligned.

That looks great man. You've really taken critique and edits well.

Be sure to make the background transparent before submitting it, or Doctor J. will thump you.
