You'd probably get a better result not doing this as pixel art, tbh. There's nothing about it that really harnesses what pixel art has to offer for a piece..! Apart from that it's quite hard to read the signature on it, since there's such low contrast. Also pure white is a very harsh colour to use as a background, i would avoid it. Perhaps you could have the lines building up and creating some sort of symbol in the centre? Anyway, hope that helped! -------------  http://larw-ck.deviantart.com">

I wouldn't AA at this point unless you know what the BG (background) will be. Its just wasted effort. Looks like you have the mouth, teeth and eyes to work on and let that determine where the flesh should go which will then let you know how the wings should go. The idea there being that the facial expression will determine what look the flesh and wings need to enhance whatever expression you can carve up, ya noes? Remember to use all the skills from the hat as you color. ------------- |

Yay for non-huge sigs at PJ!  This is a nice start, I like the extreme perspective  I did a reeeeeally quick edit to show you some things I noticed (just as an illustration, because I surely didn't fix things well):-the head, particularly in the nose area, seems a little warped -if the light source is behind, there should be some stronger shading on the side (my shading is crap, don't use that as a guide  )-it could use some colours to differentiate different areas, for example, I added a dark shade to separate the tongue from the rest of the mouth  Hope this helps ------------- http://theindiestone.com - the INDIE STONE |

No way the eyes are almost flat. There is no wetness in them and the are ON the head not IN the head. The mouth looks better now.

You should use the red you outline with for some shading of the very darkes bits; break up that large areas of the color that's one lighter than that outline color, such as the bottom of the jaw (the top of the neck) and maybe on the tail as well. ------------- http://pixelmonkey.ensellitis.com">

Nobody objects to helping out and you are trying hard to learn 'n'stuff', but... you must really try to visualize verbal c+c because we don't always have the time to make a visual comments and edits for you. When it comes down to it you will be teaching yourself how to master pixelart techniques. Please try to keep your dependence low, k. I'm not saying you're there or anything but... ...anyhoo, fun with your dragon. Roughly illustrating the last few comments none of which you seem to have understood. High contrast is your friend : )  E: I may have added colors? Remember its better to post with less updates that show more progress than lots of updats with little progress. Hard work and patience always shows. ------------- |

I do. Horns and teeth are made of different things; horns are the same material as finger- and toenails, while teeth are bone. So figure out the color of his claws & horns and also make the ends of the horns stiffer like nails. ------------- http://pixelmonkey.ensellitis.com">

Why don't you finish your pieces before making another one? Every piece I've seen from you isn't quite finished. (Don't want to sound harsh here) I know it's hard and sometimes boring work, and you have to put all of your effort in it (and then some) to really complete the art. But in the end it will be a huge relief and might even earn you some respect. As a tip: Don't focus on one thing (being, the whole pic or details). When you work on the eye, focus on the eye. When you work on the mouth, focus on the mouth. When you've made changes, look at the whole piece and see if it fits. After that, rinse and repeat And most important, have fun making it. Feel like you're going to learn something new (and you will everytime). So go ahead and finish that dragon first! (contrast is a virtue) P.S. thanks to Hatch for that lesson |

Hi SkullMaster. try to put it on a darker background instead of white. It will make the rest of it stand out. It might help the piece if you would select a midtone between the highlights.
