I recently found an interest in pixel art after I found out how all the computer and game graphics are actually made.  So I did a little research, and came up with Tsugumo's tutorials, and a couple pixel art communities.

After lurking around and reading the tutorials, I think I'm ready to tackle my first piece.  The problem is that I really don't have any clue as to where to start.  I don't want to try to start out with something far too advanced and hard for me to do, and get discouraged, and lose interest in pixeling all together.

So a couple questions I have are:  What was your first piece?  Where would be a good place to start?

Thank you for your time,

Do you have a grounding in basic art, as far as shading and drawing by hand goes? Establishing a foundation like that is extremely important.

I would not call myself an expert by any means, but I do have a basic understanding of art, more than the average person might have.

My first piece was ages ago. It's been lost to the digital gods of time.

Try an old challenge, or a collab. Doing some lineart is also a good start. Check the topic "The lines den".

And best of luck with everything.
