Subject matter and palette choices just don't go well.

I think a more consistent outlining would help improve the look of these . For example, the guy with the bad posture and hat could be quite a nice simple cartoon character if you continued with it, but the outlining doesn't match between the head and body. I don't think the broken outlining on the lamp works. I can't really comment on the palette usage as I don't know exactly what EGA is .

The palette is shown in the image :)
Jalonso: Is there a subject? Its all random.. I think?
Mashpotato: So I should give them outlines? The lamp is crap, with or without outline.. Ill add some lines, and see what it does..
EDIT: Some became very nice thanks to it!

i would work more on outlines first, and then move to the the palette wondering. it seems that almost one of each three things you've made here(on this 'project') lacks any kind of solid shape and its just the extentended version of a doodle. it doesn't mean that its bad, but i would expect more from you lollige, I know what you're able to do. the book and that ninja are the best of this.

with 'solid shape' i mean they need a structure. even when they are doodles in a cartoonish style, they need some kind of structure or solid shape in order to doesn't look like bloobs of colors. for example, the lamp, that blue monster, the green face and the sword of the running guy, they all lack a solid outline or shape, therefore looking like a careless doodle. even when, technically, your outlines are 'clean' under pixel art terms, they look messy... like natalie's drawing from that challenge. not saying that you draw like a 5 year old girl, please no, but that's mainly the point i'm trying to show you. your colouring/shading is quite good (that last piece you submitted is the proof), but you still need to work on what you're actually drawing. improving... the only way i could think, rigth now, is to create more linearts. take a look a that thread, get some inspiration, study, and practice. for you is only a fact of practice.

Earlyer I tried to do a whole body with that as base but that did not work out.. now I tried to clean up the lines but that did not work out too! I tried it with some others I liked too, but I deleted them all again..
