O-o You're definately good for a newbie that hardly knows what he's doing! ^-^

I don't like the headband, though, I'm sure you'll get crits on that later on.

Tip: Use a designated lightsource! I know it sounds like somthing a teacher would say, but it really does help! ^-^

Hello hidde,

I had typed some critique and then my
computer broke down. This was in my
buffer:

"

Eyes use too much colors.
I like the aura and the hair.
The dagger can have nicer lines.
I would change the gray color on the headband.
(some sort of sweatband?) Maybe use the
color from the pants?
A bit of shadow at the ground can help
in identifying if the left food (our right) is
raised or not?!

"

You fixed the eyes.
The headband is better, but I would ditch it
all together.
You have a better lightsource on the clothes
and the hair, but you need to do the same
on the skin.
The lefthand side (his right) would have
casted shadow from the hair on his face.
The right arm (his left) needs to be much darker.

The comment about the shadow on the floor
still persist as it is a bit unclear what is happening
with his feet.

Hope these helps.

Best regards from

M.E.

Do you mean more like this?

And what about the headband. Should I change the colour of it to white?

The best thing to do is to search for something
to be used as a reference.
This can be as simple as taking a doll and put
a lamp on it.

If the light comes from the left, the hair will
be casting shadow to the face. Thus, the whole
face will turn dark.

If you don't have a real doll where you can
add some kind of band around the head, you
can consider googling for it.
Usually the band will make the hair on the back
flatter.

Good luck!

reo you're super. I was trying to add that sign on the headband but it din't work. Thanks man!

At the moment I got this:

I changed his headband and, shadow of his hair and the scissors in his hand are now the problem

Hi Hidde,

Yes, I'm dutch.

Look closely to the edit that
Reo made. He made the band
look round by adding some dark
at the edges.

I attempted to work with shadow
to give the impression of the
lifted leg, but I'm not sure if you
even was aiming for that.

I tried working on the headband to
angle it around the head. But maybe
the hair would indeed cover it all.

So they are scissors. Hmm .. that will
be tough to make. The size would indicate
that it is more like a plant-scissor than
a scissor used in the office.

Again, look for references and maybe
take a scissor in your own hand and look
in the mirror to see what happens.

Hope this has helped.

Best regards from

M.E.

hmm...

I find strange that, even with the achieved anatomy and lineart you have with the other two characters(well, the middle one's face isn't that achieved at all) the first one's anatomy and lineart looks a weird. even for an SD, its general desing doesn't share the same quality with the other two. specially for those odd pants and legs you gave him.
