Hi
I am new to the community and kinda new to pixel art. So if my question sounds a little dumb then i do appologise lol.

What it is I am making a city scape in isometric. I am ok at making buildings and doing a convicing grass effect (using photoshops noise filter) but i am stuck making trees.

I want to make a good convincing tree but i don't want to make it extremely detailed as the rest of my city is not going to be overly detailed. I would say i use some inspiration from eboy if i was to pin down the kinda style i was aiming at.

so if anyone has any good tutorials or examples i could look at to work out my own style from I would be much appreciated... also constuction vehicles would be helpfull too. :)

Thanks

James

Well this should really be in the WIP section.
We need an example of the city/tree so we can see what you are doing, and then we can crit.
I have this from a previous edit if its any help:
For examples look at the PJ gallery: http://pixeljoint.com/pixels/new_icons.asp - http://pixeljoint.com/pixels/new_icons.asp

FYI, this is not allowed in Pixeljoint. We do not consider any filter pixelart.

Welcome to PJ. Just look around in the gallery. Use the search.

unfortunatly I am at work so I am unable to post any previews. I am thinking of going 2d now anyway and draopping the whole iso look. But i am now wondering if photoshop is indeed the best app for making pixel art in. Is there anything that you would recomend or is cos i am still new to the pixel game that i just need practice.

There is no best program to make Pixel Art, but most people use MSpaint or graphicsgale.

Photoshop is perfectly fine, as long as you don't use the automatic tools... ask jal for specific instructions - but if you turn off the auto-aa and don't use filters or opacity then you should be fine.

basically - any program with a pencil tool would be alright.

I prefer to use MSPaint instead of photoshop, but that's just cause I like how simple it is, and I'm used to it.  Others use whatever program they're most comfortable with.

So yes, in conclusion, as long as you do it by hand, you can use any program you like.
