originally for the 2d mockup challenge, i've decided to take this to a diferent aproach. this is my first serious attemp of an isometric piece, so i do want to use this to learn as much as I can.

the following image is based on the LucasArt's graphic adventure game Grim Fandango, one of the most underrated yet amazing games of the lucas's factory. this is also a debt i had with a friend :P

it took me a couple of minutes to get the character, but it has taken me ages to have a proper  image done. this is caused by my -at the moment- lack of iso skills and the terrible yet only reference of the room i was triying to remake:

the room is Domino Hurley's Office, just in case you just have a copy of the game and could post a better screenshot :D

so that's all. basically, i'm posting this so we could learn from it. and help me finish it, of course. all comments and critics are really appreciated.

If you're gonna do this right, you're gonna need some atmospheric shadows. The game is a black comedy not only in dialogue and story but in the surroundings and lighting itself.

I suggest using a larger canvas to work with as well. Give yourself room to move and create the environment.

I got your point Pb. in fact, i do want to capture the Noir essence of the game, but a close thougth makes me wonder if i should screw the isometric  mockup for now(wich is carried from the challenge rules) and move into an ilustration, were i could move with freedom...

Then lets screw the damn mockup for now. I guess i'll have to face the demons of the isometrict someday, but not for now.
