I got bored because the winter storms have caused school to be canceled for the 5th time this year, so I decided to do the Clue challenge.

Here's the line art I have so far...

And http://files.filefront.com/Line+Arting/;9677553;/fileinfo.html - here 's a video of the progress that I made using my Paint WIP Grabber program. :)

And here's what I sketched to start off with.

The arm cannot bend like that according to the position of the thumb on your hand. The man should have a thinner neck too. If you can see the top of the table then you should also be able to see the the top of the cut outs in the chairs. You might consider making the mans arms sprawl forward because it is impossible to hug the top of the table like that and still have the arms hang down at the elbows. His chest would have to the the width of the table for this to happen. Also I think his torso is too tall for his legs. If you were able to stand him up he would look like a ferret. It is unlikely that a knife would be jammed into the shoulder blade. You want the kiive to be more in the back just aside from the spinal column. The top of the jeans should form a sort of a rotated ellipse around his hips. His shoes should be thicker at the heel not at the fronts. Also the table legs are not in 90 degree angles from the center of the table. They are sort of randomly scattered. From the size of his hand and the scale of the picture that knife handle is way to thick and slightly too long.

Gee whiz, think I could get any more wrong in one piece of lineart? I was never good with that stuff. :P

I think I fixed everything but the tops of the backs of the chairs (and note that the shoes were at a high angle and the pants' cuffs were over them). I planned on making the chairs' tops quite round. I also moved his right leg farther away from the viewer to try to make his lower back look a bit less awkwardly twisted. I was actually trying to put a bit of an exaggerated perspective on this.

Hey...his arm could have been broken for all you know, and you couldn't really see his neck in the previous version. Aaand the table isn't all that wide anyway. :)

Art is never really correct or incorrect. It is more important that you are pleased with your level accuracy. I'm a draftsman and programmer so I tend to like accuracy. Just know that when you are dealing with definable shapes like cylindars and boxes and such they do have a correct way to draw at an angle, this is up to the artist's vision though. This is looking better already. Stick with it!

I'm a programmer, too, in case you can't tell from my name.
I want to be fairly accurate, but I'm absolutely horrible with anatomy and all proportions. I never get them right no matter how much I try. Anyway, I was hoping to end up with exaggerated perspective, neat lighting, and good enough shading.

Well, since it seems no other line art issues have been worthy of mention thus far, I went ahead and shaded the wood stuff. I don't like the way some of the legs turned out--they seem a little too fuzzy and straight.

You can cut down on the fuzzy effect by using more contrast, particularly with the outlines.
