Which ones are you willing to work on? I mean, which one would you like to work on.

The tree avatar looks done to me.

I don't really have any complaints with the avatar, at all. It looks quite nice.

The turtle shouldn't be dithered, in my opinion. It's too small for that.

The sword is pillow shaded, and noise-ish effects on the hand-guard doesn't look good, in my opinion. I do like the design, save for the fact that the connecting piece of metal between the handguard and the blade looks like it would snap the second it hit something. Also, it looks like the blade is really, really dull. Try to make the edges look bright, and sharp.

Work on one. The reason for this is so you can focus and more imporantly learn.
I would say work on that turtle. It has the most oportunities to learn from.

so which ne should i work on.. if i did work on the turtle i don't know where to start...

With the turtle, try removing the dithering, and add more contrast to the shading. Oh, and also each section of the shell is slightly raised and should be shaded as such. Here's a quick edit, and remember that I'm not a great pixel artist myself, so this might not be that great.

Note, I only edited the turtle.

In comparison to yours:

I'll be the first to admit that I have no freaking idea how to shade yellow.

ok thanks for the edit... but i feel the turtle is a too smaller piece to dither or shade it...:( but idk...

You can shade at this size, just not dither!

Posted By: purpletree
Date Posted: 29 February 2008 at 8:36pm
ok then i'll try to SHADE it.. :)

what would be great for the turtle is that you could use it to start practicing AntiAliasing. a cell shading is all it needs to keep its simple look, yet the AA will be a great boost to achieve.

aw dude, you totally just used my edit (with some minor changes), it was supposed to help you, not 'here just use this instead' .  In your progress thread for your broccoli tree avatar you totally steered away from all my advise, now you've just used my edit, its pixel perfect in comparisant except for the AAed outline..

my edit - your newest version

purpletree, you've got some 'splainin to do.

I really find it hard to believe that someone who's been 'working' on the same pieces as long as you have can still not find the effort to improve but instead use other members to your own personal gain. It's a shame.

Please put forth the effort and fix your mistakes

i acutally saw that like the first time it was slapped on his post in his earlier threads but i was wondering why no one aint never did said nothin. But anywho on a lighter note, nice to see u take responsibility and start pixelatin'. On the sword pic, where do u want your light source to be cuz it seems to be hovering directly between the viewer and the sword; sort of like the view of the sword is GTA2 style (bird's eye view) and the light source is hovering between you (the viewer) and the sword. Might wanna make it more defined like maybe more predominantly to one side. BLAO

I can still tell that is an edit of Terley's. I looked at it in detail, and some parts still match perfectly... come on, why not do your own version from beginning to end? Start from scratch and use Terley's as a guide.

There is the simple fact that Terley's was an edit of yours. so yah, I see why some parts are still the same.

EDIT: I have decided to edit your flying yellow turtle, but only the turtle not the sky.

I have also decided I like cell shading.

Date Posted: 17 March 2008 at 1:41pm
The yellow on the edit is a bit too saturated IMO.

most of those colors are originaly his.

they all need shading, i did mention these were from a while back..

o_o The sword is pillow shaded and stuff, on the blade add some triangular shading to give it more ... detail in my opinion.
Edit:
And I guess since everyone else is doing turtle edits, here's what I'd personally do. D:\

(I just edited your image)
Edit again..: (Olol now that I realise I screwed it up because the sun is coming from the top right hand corner, and I shaded from the left)

(Your original version)

yea i noticed that, but on my latest edit i removed the sun.... C&C are really welcome

What I did: anti-aliased, cleaned lines a bit, outlined and changed colors.
(12 colors total.)

This one might be fine without shading. =)

Posted By: Aleiav
Date Posted: 24 March 2008 at 6:04pm
How does that have 12 colors? Jeebus some of those must be nearly identical.

Posted By: purpletree
Date Posted: 24 March 2008 at 10:25pm
amerup's edit acrually has 20 colours (irfran view).... i;ve got to say that is a lot of colours....
personally i dislike the colours.... no offense

Posted By: amerup
Date Posted: 25 March 2008 at 6:33am
Gah, barely any contrast. It was zoomed in 8x, that's why.

Yeah, maybe I miscounted. If you remove the AA, that will take away lots of colors, I bet.

I thought the purple would fit your name.

Since yellow is difficult to shade, I changed it to a darker green, which turtles really are..

I also figured this had a lack of saturation, so I made the colors more vibrant and saturated.

Your choice. =)

I'd suggest redoing the turtle all over again so you can start with less colours instead of trying to keep track of how many you have now.

ok so its really a good idea for the purple thing. and i actually liked the yellow...this one just seems... welll... i dunno any hows i will restart it ...

Yay. =)

Good luck, and keep the lines clean. :D

PS: DO NOT go over 16 colors. =P
