Hi guys and gals,

This is my first attempt pixel art in a quiet while, I am trying to draw a character for a platformer game.

Something does not look right with the fedora hat and the legs, can any expert point out what I am doing wrong? Thanks a lot everyone.

Oh I guess I should post the reference once I got my scanner up and running.

-Regards

I have found in the past that it is very hard to draw small sprites effectively by starting out with line art.  Obviously there are some parts of the body that even a single pixel width can distort.  In your sprite, the legs are the victim.  I would retry this sprite by using a silhouette method.  Don't waste your pixel space by drawing an outline, use the canvas space to make the legs look more natural and not all lumpy in the thighs.

As for the hat, it doesn't look much like a fedora.  Check some reference pics to get a better idea of how it should look, and remember, draw in silhouette first. ;)
