Hello, I've been thinking about having/buying a tablet to pixle with. Is it really necessary to have one if you want to be a good/better pixler?

I think tablets are great for digital painting or vector drawing, but it's not so useful for pixelling since pressure and strokes are not necessary.

I seem to be a bit more efficient with a tablet, when pixeling..

Even when you don't do anything that requires a pressure sensitive stroke, it's a lot more accurate and comfortable to me than using a mouse.

But, yeah, it takes some getting used to at first..

I own a wacom and whereas it's priceless when animating or drawing in general, when working at a small scale, tablets lose some of their value.
I prefer to use my mouse for my pixel-art but maybe because it's an optic, wireless one; I couldn't see the same level of control and smoothness with an old-style mouse so a tablet might be better in that case.

I have an optic mouse, too.. I actually use them both, but I use my tablet more than anything.

The mouse that comes with the tablet is terrible, by the way..

I think my tablet is invaluable for pixelling...it gaves me much more precise control, and it has increased the speed of my work by a great deal.  At one time, my cat decided to chew on my usb cable, and for the week that I was waiting to get a new tablet, and working with an optical mouse, I noticed I got far less work done, and with a slight drop in quality accompanying it....

I prefer my tablet over my mouse when pixeling too. I prefer it over the mouse for everything other than FPS games. It is simply much faster for me.

I would use it for EVERYTHING else, just I don't know what to do with it when I need to type.. I put it in my mouth sometimes, or I'll leave it in my hand, but it just creates way too many typos.

I guess it depends on how much you're used to drawing. Personally I highly recommend a tablet. My shape creating, speed and accuracy are much better with it.

Since it's my birthday today I just got my first tablet. It's a intuos3 4x5 tablet. So far - I LOVE it! I'm trying out some pixel art stuff right now. It's great. Anyone that doesn't have a tablet but loves to draw can take it up one level and draw dynamically!

isn't it great?  only it takes a LITTLE bit of getting used to.

the first day is the hardest.. after that, yikes.. I'd hate it if anything
ever happened to my wacom!
