I'm sure this is a massive newb question but is there any more efficient method of frame-by-frame animating than making hundreds and hundreds of layers and selecting which ones are visible?

Thanks for any help...

I don't think so, but I never did use ImageReady much. You can always try another program. http://ftp.jasc.com/pub/en/ani311en.exe - Animation Shop is my personal favourite (it's free, too).

Animation shop 3 comes bundled with Paint Shop Pro since version 7. Corel does have to option to purchase it for $39, but the trial has everything you could need for pixel art. and works without any kind of trial license that expires in 30 days, wich is the best part.
