Hi all, Not really a Job offering as such. I'm looking for pixel artists to help with beta testing and general feedback for a fast growing pixel package. ProPixel has been around in the public domain for around 3 years now, and has got to the stage where I'm almost ready to start reaching out past the community of current customers. If you work with pixel art on a daily basis then you are the type of person I would like on the beta team. All I'm asking of those selected, is to use ProPixel Animator to create their pixel work and give feedback on what they feel is missing, or how current tools could be improved. And, obviously, inform me of any bugs so they can be removed before updates are released. In return you will receive a free commercial license for all products in the ProPixel range. Currently this is ProPixel and ProPixel Animator. You will have full release versions of all products as well as beta editions allowing you pre-release access to all updates and new versions. I would request that those wishing to take part in beta testing have access to MSN at the very minimum, and knowledge of IRC is preferred. That's about it, if you feel like making a difference to the direction of what I'm sure will be the pixel artists weapon of choice, and join other professional pixel artists, then please contact me via the email address in my profile. | I had a look at the overview, and I'm not sure if you're already planning this, but the one thing I'd like to see is the ability to pick colours on the fly. I find presetting a pallete to be a pain, and it doesn't account for esthetic changes during the creation of a piece. I work professionally, and when you make dozens of sprites and tiles every day, changing the palette colours between each can be time consuming. This is the main reason that I currently use Photoshop, as their colour selection tool is so convenient, especially when coupled with their Alt+Click colour picker. |

Hi nvision, Colour picking is in there (on the fly). It also adds colours not in the existing 10 user defined palettes to a "Picker Palette". You can also save/load individual palettes or banks of palettes. Ctrl+Click (Left, Right or Middle mouse buttons) for lifting/selecting colours from the image. If you work in 24bit mode you can switch between 10 user-defined 256 palettes plus 1 picker palette to help keep things fluid. For 8,4 and mono images you get a single palette as usual. Also, you can detach the palette selector and hide it. When detached and hidden, a press of the "Show Palette" key will pop the palette directly underneath the cursor for quick colour switching.
