The lineart draws a bit too heavily from your reference in the wings, and not quite enough in the head. I'm no expert on dragon faces, so let me get to... COLORS! Contrast! Hue-Shifting! Lighting! ASSEMBLE! Basically, your colors need a lot more contrast - you can accomplish this partially through hue-shifting. See your reference? The light red in that is really a pinkish orange, and the dark red is kinda purple/black. This is what you should try to accomplish, while still adding more 'distance' between the colors. As far as lighting, do you have a lightsource planned? I think it'd be really cool if you made the light come from the dragon's flame, not quite the most original thing but you could work from it... Maybe have the dragon lighting a lamp using it's flame? That's all I have to say for now. Looking forward to see an update

Whether or not you're stealing them from the reference or not, they're still majorly lacking in contrast. I suggest using a different color if you want to make your pixel look different... how about green? Brown?
