My name is Lance Gardner, I lead a team creating a java applet game. The game is currently far into alpha development and approaching beta, with the vast majority of game features in place. Any potential pixel artist is welcome to play the game :).
Job Info
Julian Gollop created a cult classic game, 'Chaos' for the Atari which frequently rates amongst the best strategy games of all time. The game was later refined by Andrew and Paul Gower as Cyberwars, where it had massive popularity with hundreds of hits a day. Eventually they took it down before making Runescape, and support our attempts to make a direct sequel to this game, a turn based tactical strategy game of 2-25 players. We're working on a site, most of the game is in place, most of the graphics are in place. We need a few graphics (specifically spell animations and static item frames) to round off the whole set. The game is currently in alpha, so it has a playerbase of only a few dozen people. We will advertise the game in a serious way when we have completed beta.
Paid or not? and salary info?
We can potentially pay people, unpaid applicants will be given preference. Salary goes up to 15$ a sprite for a top of the range sprite artist, price negotiable based upon quality and speed of work. We will determine it in advance. One sample sprite (which we will pay for if we use) needed before hiring.

This task is suitable for pixel artists, either borderline professional or attempting to gain a portfolio. The game is medieval fantasy themed, with small and charming animated sprites. It is easy to dip in and out of, doing just one sprite, there is no need to work in bulk although this is possible.
