Okay, I've scrapped my first idea and am now going with this...

Okay, added highlights, shading, and a background.  It's deep aquatic creature so the BG is meant to be deep water.  Anyway, here's the first edit:

Good artwork starts with a good design.

Wow, thanks... it's weird how the most restrictive pallette seems to have been the most fun to work with.

In the final stretch I decided to try and see what the other three pallettes had to offer... not bad but I think I prefer the first one I worked with.

I like the middle one a lot! If you would add some blue to the red, you might get something beautiful!

I agree with Lollige there. The middle one has the most depth. Reminds me of the old game Catacomb 3-D somehow...

I hit a few areas with the blue, I tried not to be heavy-handed with it.  Is it noticeable at all?  Did it add what you'd hoped to see?

Well, I lose computer access from 1:30PM EST on Friday until 5:00AM EST Monday so I'm posting my entry now.  Thanks for the suggestions and comments, Lollige & Club Beuker.

Lollige - I hope the changes I made were what you had in mind :D
