Well im working on a new rpg, and i was using a template that a friend made.

First Style-

Second Style-

(Yes i know the house needs work)

New Character-

3rd style:

I started this topic looking for feedback on the character and i decided to post the tiles and all so i could improve everything.

Edit: I started the second tileset because the old one looked too close to pokemon, and my rpg is a monster catcher so im trying to steer away from pokemon.

Your path tile is really quite good. The house and planks seem undetailed and huge compared to the character and trees. The lil map character is cool. The trees have stray messy pixels and the contrast isn't good against the grass.

Your new character is quite good - the helmet should maybe be a lil bigger than the head. I find nothing else wrong, looks like it will become a neat RPG.

The styles of tiles, items and buildings are so different that someone can assume you copy/pasted several objects and placed a couple of lines in the middle of the image and called it a building (not saying that you did).

Make sure all the tiles/objects/items/buildings/etc. are in the same style so the assumption would dissolve.

There's a lot to be done.

Hm i can see the style difference in the house and tree's compared to the tileset, but the new character fits the style right?

And the house was made for the first style (simplistic), but i changed the style to steer away from pokemon and i just copied and pasted the house.
I knew i had to redo it, and some people like the tree's but i can see how it is out of the style.

your grass needs less contrast and your trees are a little blobish.  The whole thing is a little dark and grey too.  If you were trying to make it look like its in a forest then its fitting but otherwise you should brighten the colors a bit.

@NacL- sorry i forgot to put i used that as a reference ill add that to the first post now.

@r1k-   Yeah it wasnt supposed to be a forest so ill brighten it up a bit.  Only thing im keeping are the tiles and the character. Im going to redo the house and tree's

The house doesn't fit the "first" style either. It just looks like a bunch of random placed lines.

Yes, i know the house looks like crap :P.  Anyways, the Second style was proving hard to do.  So yet again i changed the style, and im very pleased with this one.  I also redid the character, because people kept thinking i copied Gil's when i only used it as a reference. I guess i looked a bit too closely :P.  Anyways here's the new tileset.

much better

The character may need a lighter outline for better contrast against the dark bg.
