I've finally submitted and decided to jump into the pixel art
community! /Yay!

My name is Justin, i've been pixelling for approx. 3-4 months after seeing all of the elaborate/awe inspiring peices on Pixeljoint/Pixelation im usually left with the feeling "wtf how!?". I am constantly revising/re-learning the same techniques in an attempt to master the basics.

I started pixeling as a hobby, as well as in an attempt to provide the mmomaking community with royalty free set of resources.  Once i started building tilesets, it was all downhill XD

When I first started pixelling, it was a half-brushed half-pixelled (not to mention half-assed) approach, which was quickly caught and corrected by DrD.  He introduced me to the "pixel-purists" perspective which I like to hold true in everything I produce. Thanks DrD, not only for the advice, but for directing me here in an attempt to better myself from the knowledge of peers (THANK YOU!)

This is a fine art, unlike many others, there is a heck of alot more technical things to take into consideration. (pallettes, lightsources, dithering, or "tricking the eye")Learning how to do everything on the most miniscule/restricted level is not only challenging, it makes one a better artist as a whole.  For that, I applaud everyone who tries their hand at pixel-art.

Thats enough rambling, lets get to the art:

This was all created over the last 3-4 months, theres alot of varying styles and lightsources.  I admit, this isn't "great" nor would some consider it "good".

These are essentially test sets, trying my hand at creating themes as well a seamless tiling (an artform in itself)Id love a critique, as well feel free to identify all of the contradictions/newbie errors you can find, i'm here to better my pixelling technique.  I've left my sarcasim/pride at the door.

Thanks again everyone, and again, thanks DrD to pointing me in all the right directions.

First, welcome to PJ!  Second, I would create a new thread in the WIP section and post this in there.  Third, I like what I see so far - the trees and bushs are well done.  Fourth, and last,... is that what I think it is above the sword pic?

lmao, that tile is my favorite, just because people always pinpoint it and ask "is that what i think it is?" which tells me, i did a decent job on that peice of crap lols.

I've all but abandond these sets, so i dunno if i'd call them a WIP.  But, if anyone wants to use them, feel free, no credit nessecary.

Is anyone else around here strictly "game art" oriented? Or if there are threads in relation (that i haven't found using the search button) i'd certainly appreciate some links.

Thanks for the interest :)

this crap sucks. you should quit pixel art right now before you ruin everything we have created so far.

just joking, welcome to Pj, just remember to not be obvious and to never stop learning.
