I have wanted to do an iso-collab on a small scale for a while. I have modified an existing grid and suggested a palette. Is there anything I havent thought of?
Otherwise, please book a few numbers and slap some pixels on this baby!
All contributers to work in gif format please

About time we had another one of these. I'll take a slot... to be determined.
@Igthorn make sure you make something since you started it, k.

23-31-32 are mine
*Color shifting will make this wonky if everyone changes the file type. Everyone
must use gif or png and since many don't know the diff between png8 and
png24 I suggest all files should be in gif format. This should be made
clear before the collab goes color crazy.
also...

Ig, please make changes/corrections to the first post using the 'edit' button for any update to the rules. Edited by jalonso - Today at 4:15pm

@Jalonso Feeling Stupid
Add my changes to the image to the first post? Add an indication of GIF decision and lightsource to the first post?
|
Posted By: jalonso
Date Posted: 24 May 2009 at 3:55pm
Yes. Keep any main changes and rules in the first post whenever they happen. Its easier than having to search the whole thread later on.

@Artisan - thanks for cobbling some of the bits together!
I will grab 23 as well if no one has any objections
|

Jal took 23 I think???
Also, your previouse tile doesn't follow the light source as far as I know, so you might need to edit yours a bit.
This is my go at keeping towards a certain style, though this does not mean I didn't mix it up a bit. Any Critique would be welcome as this was my first attempt to do ISO, which is certainly out of my comfort zone.
I took 16.
Might do another and keep improving this tile.

Jeremy, you got the same wrong palette I got...the colors are different than those on the first post image.
Example: the color on your base is 120, 11, 24 but on the first post image it's 120, 17, 23

curses.
EDIT: okay, should be good now.
|
Posted By: jalonso
Date Posted: 17 June 2009 at 3:33pm
Oh noes, maybe my colors are off too :(
This file is now clean and only the 59 colors of the palette are here. If you already made a panel you micht want to check I didn't mess up a shade in yours, the file was up to 188 colors o.O
EDIT: The white BG is not in the palette - do not use white.

Sorry, I was away last week and the server I use to host my pictures went offline for some misterious reason.
So here is my contribution back at 24.
I also removed sole leftover white pixels (the O of lightsource most notably) and replaced them with transaprency.
|
Posted By: darchangel
Date Posted: 23 July 2009 at 1:06pm
Another update, added my number 19.
Somehow the palette was at 170+ colors again. It's back to the normal 59+ background (sorry I didn't make it transparent)

***EDIT***
I think the first post needs to be updated so that everyone else can work from the first picture, maybe that will keep the color count from jumping all over the place.

Hey guys, I'm new here. I though I give Pixel art another go (After having a hard time with 3D modeling)

I did number 15.
I would like to know how I did as well

I'll Take any of the side ones, doesn't matter to me. I did create this one using the 26 tile though. It's a guy sitting on the couch with his legs crossed watching his big screen. There is a lamp, and also a picture on the wall. If you're wondering why you can't see this, gravity has altered his state of reality. He is sitting on the wall!

Hm-hm. Ok, I'll give it a go =P. See if I can make something of it (the last one =O).
Edit: Turns out you can't open .gif in the free edition of Graphics Gale. Which means I only got win7 paint to work with =S. This is going to be slightly more difficult than I initially thought =P. I'm still going to try, but if paint gets on my nerves too much, I'll just let someone else do it.
Edit2: I'm going to sleep now. No inspiration + tired. But I'll try tomorrow, so don't steal my spot just yet =P.
Edit3: Nope. Paint messes the palette up and makes it look really weird... Someone else can do 25.
Edit4: Yes, number 4. I just realised that I have paint.NET too, so I'll give that a go.

Its cool if you can't place your tile in the piece. You can always just post your tile as a single thing and we'll add it to the collab. Just keep a check on the colors so you don't add new ones. You can use this for the base to work from

No hurry. You will never improve if you don't pixel. Some tiles on the piece are not super awesome and you don't have to think you MUST super awesome to join this or anything else. You join because you want to. I was trying to force you as a motivational thing not an order that you should stress over. It will be cool if you make it but remember that tiles reservations are not forever and someone else may take that last tile, k.
ps: You need to make yourself an avatar too. Your list grows :p

I tried to remove my avatar again, but it failed. Then I took a random piece to see if I could delete that (as the avatar I had was inactive) but no (you guys should add an option to delete your avatar =P). So now I just have the example avatar as a temporary one =P. Anyway, I'll try to finish this first, and then I'll try to make myself an avatar, ok? =P
Edit: Well, it's about done... I'll take another look at it tomorrow and maybe change some more things, but then I'll post it =)

@tanuki, its totally possible that the colors got all messed up by now.
If you post the final with your addition included I'll edit the first post and upload so its not lost to posterity.

The palette on its own seems to have 59 colors (counting transparency), but the image as a whole has 77, so there's 18 extra. There doesn't seem to be anything on the palette that's not used, but there is one color on the palette twice (223, 189, 133).
Here's the pixels that don't use a color from the palette-
I suppose I'll just work off the palette and leave everything else as is.

This is what I have so far.
I still need to work on the water, add a sail (which I expect will be hard), give the boat a shadow, finish the island, and random details. Might also make the outline on the boat less obtrusive.

Yea, I figured some colors got out of whack with everyone updating their own files. This is why PJ will now run collabs with fixed palettes like iso-ology has been run. I see one of the colors that's off is on a tile I made and I know I used the palette.
If I remember correctly the tile by yours with the orange portal on a grey grid had been asked to be corrected???
Don't sweat it. We'll just wrap this baby up and move on to the next :)
