This thread is for pixels which you'd consider too simple for a gallery - pieces which can be fit in 32x32 block. The trick is just to pixel everyday. 32x32 block takes affordable amount of time (5 - 30 minutes compared to hours for regular gallery pieces) and the canvas is enough to show some craftsmanship and draw anything.
I'll start with a 1-bit car which could be at home in any 70's game. 6 minutes.

I'm not 100% sure I completely understand this thread. Do you want people to make 32x32 pixel art every day and post it here? I think it would be better if it were some personal exersise among PJ members to do this every day for a specific amount of time, say, a month or something.
Maybe have people sign up to this before a certain date, and then all of those members would be a part of the 32x32 pixel art club and would have to make something everyday for a month, under 30 mins and 32x32. etc...
</rambling>
Anyway, I made a pack of cards in 30 mins:

Reference: Pack of cards on my desk. http://i32.tinypic.com/1z34ej5.jpg - This is an image from the internet of the same brand of cards.

The main thing is to make an outlet for those who want to make pixelart more constant habit. It was said about many arts (music, drawing, sports) that training 15 minutes a day is better than several hours a week. And posting it on forums and see what others are doing with the medium could be motivation to stay on the course.
>and would have to make something everyday for a month, under 30 mins and 32x32. etc...
Maybe we can set some time limit like mentioned 15 minutes so that training of speed would be included.

That's it - we need to set some deadline! Let's say 15 minutes for an image - and then, whatever state it is, it should be considered finished. With more time it becomes over-rendering - after all, 15 minutes is 0.8 of a second for a single pixel out of 1024 - a lot of time!

while it is a PNG file. Yeah, it's actually a .png file. If necessary, just save and rename it.
How much time it took?
Around 15-20 minutes.
You can work for hours on 32x32 pieces if you want. Yeah, but then it may as well be a gallery piece. This challenge seems more like an exercise for practice.

Anyway,
- My entry for today. Took around maybe 30 minutes. No reference used (though I did draw this character before based on a reference).

When image is not showing, you can't save it. Maybe I'm the last one still using IE, but why not to use some universal variant?

- Ra's Al Ghul from the Batman franchise. I was sorely lacking inspiration the day before, and ridiculously sleepy yesterday (I started this yesterday) which is why I haven't been keeping myself challenged, but it's probably a good thing I didn't try to practice yesterday since only perfect practice makes perfect.
Around 30-40 minutes, including what I began yesterday. Reference: http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/7608/dcdrasalghul.jpg
Also, trying tinypic again. Just learned that I can change the file extension of the URL to .png and it'll still work.

Had to try this: very, very small indeed...
1: I drove 600 km yesterday, saw pixels everywhere! I'll drive them again tomorrow... :( 15-20 min, 13 colors.
Two more today, since I won't be able to do more for a few days! 2: more road stuff, not good; >30min, 20 colors! 3: manhole from my window, 20 min, 12 colors.
I suggest we edit our posts instead of making a new one each 'day'. And since it's a collab, I just put them all together. :) (an anim might be better, though: next time!) (edit: we'd soon run into the 256 colors max: no anim)

It would be hard to maintain and not much point in it anyway as every piece benefits from commentary of it's author. Now there's more pics than talk about them, so picking them out and putting in a post is not necessary, - one can easily find them briefly looking at the thread.
But maybe if we hit a certain NUMBER?!..

I'm against spending so much time on 32x32 piece. Not like I purposely took long. I just kept going until I thought it looked decent enough, so that I wouldn't have to go back to it after uploading and spend more time anyway. Plus the time I spent yesterday was only about three to five minutes at most which was drawing guidelines.

@ska: what? But it's bad! well at least not what I wanted... It's almost unreadable, the truck is totally out of persp (from a car's point of view). I wouldn't have uploaded it if it wasn't precisely the point of this thread... ;-) And, your 5' were well used!
@AB: well, if I did it again in a shorter time, it still would benefit from the 1st attempt, so that would make it closer to 1 hr I guess! Your Swinging London is my fav, perfectly readable even without zooming.

I tried to do one yesterday, but it was coming out terrible so I stopped. Here's today's.
I like the idea of making 32 of them, that'll be my goal. Because 1024 is way too many. It would take years, and that's IF you were amazing enough to do one everyday. Well maybe it'll happen someday.
But for now, we could aim for 1024 as a group! Who ever wants to compile them, it'd be cool if you did 32 tiles across.

Difference to ManningKrull's method is that sprite is shown completely from the side, not 3/4; features 10 frames, not 8; bobs up and down differently. Also it uses design of boots to add readability of animation, but I haven't include any boots to simplify process.

It shows that time was spent on the pic. Some for better (like colors), some for worse (overrendering which haven't done better for readability). Also I tried, and think that 32x32 is very tough medium to show multiple objects in a scene - maybe it is not possible to make object recognizable if list of it's features is longer that number of pixels that it takes on the canvas.
The main thing is that to explore the medium and post the result. It is not main gallery, it is log of creativity.

I thought about it too recently. If you experimented and failed, you haven't spent too much time on it, because it's only 32x32, and, anyway, you learned something..
But then, is Manupix, for example, experimenting? I'm happy with his course, no matter if the answer yes or not. His works feel fresh, however.

If you compare the piece to the orinal you can see whats wrong. Mostly lighting problems, like the left should be darker, and the right should be lighter, the eyes are shaped differently. The hole at the bottom doesn't look the same. Things like that. Your eyes can be a useful tool.

Am I experimenting? I'd say not really, although being new to this, I am in a way. But these are more exercises at seeing, memorizing and drawing.
Experiment would be more about a specific technique, for instance, in rendering, light, aa, etc.

This is based on a nearby ad for Hungry Jacks (Burger King). It uses Ptoing's random palette (from http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=9261.msg101384 - this activity over at Pixelation).

Perhaps this is a subconscious message that eating at Hungry
Jacks/Burger King is akin to using a toilet - well, at very least, the

I'm feeling a bit lonely around here...

# 22, 23, 24 I like most from the recent posts. Once I walked near railway station building and was stunned by amazing view of lifting crane against blue sky. You made me remember that sunny day.
Sorry, currently when I pixeling, I pixel for that cover
(which is not contradicting 'pixel everyday' ideology). So when I'll finish it, I'll return to this thread.

Thx AB! Contrary for me, I don't find the time/energy/motivation for large stuff, except some botched/unfinished attempts at challenges. So 32x32s are good to do!

#31: crazy shop, 6 colors, 15'. Had this vision shopping for food. Shop doesn't look like that, too bad!

7 or 8 colors. It took me 20 minutes, but I was multitasking.

That's all folks! (for now!) 10 colors, >30'.
Well, that was a more interesting activity than I would have thought at first, thanks AB for suggesting it!
It's a good looking/ memorizing/ drawing exercise, and also a useful outlet for some of those ideas that won't leave you in peace until you do them, and yet don't really deserve a more significant effort.
I hope I'll go on, even without posting. Maybe try 48x48s.

#....something

About 20 minutes.
I got up early only to find what I was going to do wasn't happening anymore. No better way to pass the time ;)

My first try at something this small. I must say, it is harder than it looks.
If you couldn't tell, it's http://2aday.files.wordpress.com/2007/04/lord_of_the_rings_the_return_of_the_king.jpg - Aragorn from the Return of the King poster.

It's time for a battle. It's time for COLOR CLASH!!!
A bit of ZX Spectrum restricted doodles. I was a little obsessed over Spectrum recently after watching Micro Men.
Congrats on beating challenge, Manupix!
Also nice plane from Timbit.

Thanks :)
93? Also my #3.

Ahhhh, stereotypical tropical sunset shot. Tried to get the huge contrast in shadow and light as there is in large sunsets, including getting the water looking like sunset-saturated water. Happy enough.
12 colours @ 25 minutes because I had to open Photoshop to get a colour value because I forgot to write them down and I use MSPaint still.

Cool work guys! Reo: possibly the very best so far! FM: love that doodle! Jeremy: excellent!
LeeKiwi: nope, it's a nowhere-in-particular tunnel.
Damn, I'll have to do more...

FM: That doodle one is great!
99 i believe!

I had an idea of a large flying aircraft carrier. So I decided to a 32x32 of it. I started it, then came back to it, so no time recorded really.
I ain't touching 100.

I'll do 100.

(poorly drawn) CGA handshake based on http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/39644.htm - this mockup by AB Lazer. It's supposed to be the main character shaking hands with a zombie like creature + bonus colon three face
On a related note - handshake award to A.B. Lazer for making this thread.
