Welcome to the world of Pokemon Online, or POL, as it is known by its community. Pokemon Online will be a free Pokemon MMORPG that has been billed by its competitors as one of the best free Pokemon MMORPGs.

My name is Bluarachnia, retired Moderator and currently one of the head mappers and POLWiki Administrators, and I am looking for graphical artists, tilers, and mappers to help out with our game. I will now describe some of the details to you. If you choose to help, you will be able to choose from these two categories:

Graphical Artists: These members Create the Sprites that players will use to play POL. The Tilers are also Classed under this rank, they create almost every visual aspect of the game. They make the Sprites, map tiles and a whole lot more.

Mappers: These members, under my watch, construct the maps that the player walk around on, Mapping the tiles together to form a playable area.

If any of these positions interest you, please post here with the position you are interested in so I can give you further details. Hopefully, with your help, we can continue to make great progress on what will be the best Pokemon based MMORPG made. I hope to hear from you.

Regards,
Bluarachnia

orenshtiv: unfortunately we cannot pay, as that would be a breach of copyright to nintendo

we are allowed to work on pokemon online so far as we do not make any profit, meaning that even if we wanted to, we could not pay any contributors, although contributors will have their name in the closing credits.

Elk: im afraid i do not understand what you meant by infrastructure.

Like, is there a market or something? Aside from just fighting, tournaments and what not...

I used to do some graphics for Pokemon World Online.  It's a huge amount of work.  I left because I was one of the few actives and THAT many Pokemon and THAT many trainers and having to redo ALL of the graphics is a LOT for a volunteer.  lol

It would have taken 5 years to complete it all at the rate we were going.

That said, good luck.  I'd give you some free custom Pokemon sprites if I hadn't made them for PWO specifically.

It's a fun franchise.

Is there a place were I could see more information about this game? I usually only join projects for free if the project looks interesting enough, and while an online pokémon game is something I always wanted to play, I would like to know a little more about how the game works before I volunteer to work on it. Is it like an exact copy of the games, but online? If not, what changed, etc?

that would be appreciated, but we frown on graphics theft as we have been the target ourselves. thanks anyway

of course, you may head to our website, http://www.pkmnonline.org to have a look, or send an email to any staff member for further information.
POL is attempting to keep as close to the handheld games as possible while making our own little creative changes. POL is set 5 years after the events of GSC and quite the bit has changed, unfortunately i am not at liberty to discuss some of the finer secrets as we like to keep suprises ;)

thanks for your interest, we hope to hear soon
