Subject: [PAID] - Looking for Game Icons

We are looking for some simple graphics for a new online web based game called Novus Erus.  Initital graphics all need to be 100x100.  Examples of stuff needed immediately.

1)  Wheat Icon
2)  Ore Icon
3)  Boulder Icon
4)  Logs Icon
5)  Livestock Icon

These are the "Raw" resources in the game.

Obviously we want all graphics to be similar stylistically.

We also need the following graphics as well that will be displayed in a tiled format to display in a 25x25 tile grid.

1)  Grass (open)
2)  Farm
3)  Pasture

We will of course need additional icons for such things as...

1)  Miners
2)  Lumberjacks
3)  Quarrymen
4)  Scouts
5)  Bowmen
6)  Calvary
7)  Infantry

The games basic premise is you are given a block of land in a newly discovered land (similar to the discovery of America) and it is your job to tame the land and move up in the noble ranks by fighting other Barons and such.  So lots of noble crests and knights and dukes and such.

We are looking to pay a set fee per icon accepted and of course we are looking to have one person do a given group of icons so they match in style and quality.  To be honest I have scoured the forums looking for the right rate to offer and found the offers all over the place so we will work each artist to see if we can find terms that make sense.  We are hoping to get the initial icons done for say $10 per icon.

Please contact me immediately at kevin{at}acyfl{dot}com or reply to this post as we are ready to move as we are coding like crazy over the Thanksgiving break!

Thanks!

Why doesnt someone on here list out a "Going Rate" guide for developers to use instead of the whiny posts like the one above I see on most threads.

I said in my thread that I cannot figure out for the life of me what the going rate is for pixel art.  It is not clear on here but every offer I seee on this site is always met with some one complaining it is too low without any response to what they belive the going rate to be.

How about some guidelines in regards to cost for:

10x10
25x25
50x50
100x100

You're better of contracting somebody with a budget say $500 or $1,000 and agreeing to the amount of work between you both..

I'd be tempted just because I'm doing my first paid jobs as a sprite artist (for barely anything too) currently.  However the sheer size would be difficult to work with for me.  100x100 is pretty big.  Methinks it would take a lot of time.

What kind of style are you going for?  Do you have examples?

Mr. factory (funny name by the way),

I am new to this stuff as is obvious from my posts.  We are building a great engine and although have some ideas on the art work, we are kind of open to having an artist coem in and put in his/her input as well.

100x100 I thought was standard size and we will shrink as needed, but it seems that may be the wrong approach.  We have received numerous emails from possible artists as well.

Can you email me at kevin[at]acyfl[dot] mailto:kevin@and - and we can discuss further?

We currently give each new Baron a 25x25 starting grid that is made up of all open land (probably grass).  They can currently build farm parcels (that grows wheat) or pasture parcels which grows livestock.  These 3 icons are displayed at 20x20 each for an overall display of 500x500.  Ideally it would be cool to have say 3 different grass icons that when displayed across the 25x25 grid, form a decent looking field.  Same for the farmland and pastures.

Then we need several icons that we are displaying at 50x50 but that may be too big as well, at the bottom of all pages that shows your resources at all time.  For example, wheat, ore, logs, boulders and livestock.

Again, we are open to an artist's interpretation and looking for someone that may want to own the overall graphic design with us.

Check it out at http://www.novuserus.com - www.novuserus.com , create a login and check out the various pages.  Go to Barony to see what I am trying to say about the grass, farms and pastures and of course look at the bottom of the main page once logged on and you will see the cheesy little icons we have at the bottom right now.  These all need redone.

Thanks!
