I don't really understand what's being proven. we don't send pieces back for being "distorted jpegs" (not that we don't, just that it isn't a category for revision, and I don't recall a mod mentioning it being sent back for said reason).
The problem seems to lie in the methods used to achieve the rather unnatural pixel placement, not the image type. if I had to guess.

i dont know there was a comment saying it was a distorted pixel image.
the picel placement is jsut a technique i was thought combined with teh fact that i use a trackpad to do pixel art lol i can post the original picture i used as model if that intrests you?

to prove that it isnt just a rescaled picture

It's always a very good idea to post or link to the reference image when you use one, especially when the pixelling technique or style could be confused with the result of automated tools.
Your image definitely shows some suspiciously random pixels.

Thanks!
And here is a resized and color-reduced version of it:

There are disturbing similarities in the random pixel textures in some places, there are also obvious differences in lines and shading which indicate that you did draw it by hand, at least mostly.

It would be a good exercise for you to try to make it better, by cleaning all those random looking parts, and bettering the lines. I'd suggest to train by copying that ref on paper first, a number of times, so as to get more familiar with Mandela's distinctive features (Sorry, but your piece doesn't really look like him, and this is quite possibly a reason for its rejection, too).

Btw, that beautiful drawing is indeed from a http://4umi.com/mandela/ - photograph .

Could I have been clearer?

I was sure from the start that it was in the worst case largely hand redrawn, maybe over a resize, maybe not. I've never thought it was entirely automatic. And I consider anyone innocent until proved guilty, so I'm willing to believe you did it 100 % by hand.

Please understand though that some of that random texture does look like a color reduction, and that it does happen that some people try to pass color reductions for handmade stuff.

At this point I think it would be more relevant to reorient the discussion towards the artistic merits of the piece, and ways to improve them.

(Also in case you wonder, I'm not a mod, neither is onek who first commented on your piece)

http://pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=7375&PID=104198#104198 - Check here (not up to date though, Hatch is one too, Larwick is not really around anymore).

On the forum, they are 'Rear admirals'.

You don't have to be sorry about that. I'm sorry that your 1st experience of PJ might not have been the most pleasant. If you're seriously into pixelz, you should see the better side of it soon.
