Wonderful work! How did you come up with this texture style?

Was this picture made at a smaller resolution originally and then upscaled before further editing? I ask because the fence posts on the right seem to have been drawn at half the current canvas size, and the posts on the left seem similarly redrawn and edited over with brushstrokes going outside the upscaled pixel grid. This on top of the lattice-like dithering around the sun, and what seems to be upscaled dithering on the grass and the cloud that was then brushed over to create an effect that would be impossible to preserve at the original resolution.
