I don't think that this is fair for the rest of the contestants of this challenge , this is mainly 3D modeling skills which is implied into a pixel art contest
In my understanding (and I assume that I might be wrong of course) it is art, and a very cool one, but would have to call it a "pixelated art" not "pixel art".
This looks so much like the kind of GIF that was prevalent in the 90s. I'm impressed at just how much you've captured the feeling, and it's weirdly quite nostalgic.
Ya it's like Hapiel said basically, I modeled and animated the skull and rings, I used a color ramp to quantize the color and then rendered it out and moved pixels around to try and cluster them better.
I'm guessing this is a cleaned up 3d render? It could have worked better with a complete manual repixel rather than a cleanup of the redux, even the background still has artefacts from it :(
Wow, I love the secondary rotation you included with it.
I'm curious to know, how did you produce this animation exactly? I assume there was a 3D model for the skull involved, did you hand-draw it with that as a reference to get the details and lighting right? Did you export an animation of it and then sprite over the frames? Did you export an animation and reduce the colour palette in Photoshop?
I think you would have to ask mods about it. In "Submit Pixel Art" there are rules your art have to meet to be allowed in the gallery (point 3 and 5 mostly in this case). Keep those in mind when posting art. Since you are honest about 3d modeling technique used, it clearly means that you had no intention to deceive mods, but just didn't read carefuly, and didn't know.
