Usurplust is my genesis artwork in the optical medium - the first piece of visual art I have ever created. It took over a month of effort, compounding 404 layers that symbolize the glitch-art technique used to allegorize the very theme of it: an abrupt change in flawed perception. The flame in fog. The hallucination in the dithered RGB mist.
The name consists of three other words: Usurp, Surplus and Lust, giving rise to the fourth one, being an amalgamation of them all, expressing the desire of acceptation through vanquishing of the supreme.
Expanding upon the theme of what is quadrivial, as opposed to the trivial, the image also represents different emotions cast by the figures, all touching another, the hand in the middle being interpretable as belonging to either of the two standing statues of specters with differing feelings within their gestures.
The dual nature of the message is conveyed through opposing elements of the burning fire and T.V. snow, showing both the natural and the artificial, the innate and the external, the chained and the free, the shadow and the color, the intention and the extension.
It's only from the position of false and flawed that we can perceive what's true and perfect.
