This is really cool! I've thought myself that palettes with an unusual tone might work well if you think of it as having a sort of color grading or tint. You've executed that idea beautifully here and the drawing/composition is also excellent.
In this case it turned out to be really straightforward, just a matter of combining the palette and the image.
Now that I've tried out some palettes I feel like it's harder to work with ones that don't have very good coverage of different values, while with ones with a limited range of hues it's still pretty easy to use one color in place of another.
Oh, fantastic! Great use of the palette as atmospheric lighting!
Really nice piece. You managed to work with the palette really well. It sounds like a really challenging exercise, keep up the good work!
indeed, they often just need artist to put them into good use. i don't think i would be able to use that palette this well. very inspiring!
Thanks! I'm always surprised at how the palettes on that site end up looking when you make an image with them.
Thanks! I do feel like value is much more important than hue in terms of making the image recognisable, so most palettes can be used to achieve an effect of realism. On the other hand, for me this aproach involves the use of fairly simple color ramps, so it can be a little closed off from experimentation.
