Second pixel art submission...

This is the second character I created to test pixel art on. So far, they've been very willing lab rats.

Being new to pixel art, I chose to practice AA, dithering techniques and SelOut here. Woo.

Rehash. Copied bg bubbles from "Chunk". Some AA improvement here . . . yay. Skin texture still sucks, all that dithering seems overdone, like I was trying too hard. Too much technical, not enough intuition. The bg bubble behind his left hand is ill-placed, looks like something attached to his hand at first. Is his brain, behind that blank stare, rectangular, too? Hair texturing is boring, the texture is very monotonous and doesn't read worth a crap. No lightsource planning. Can his hands even reach his mouth?

Sedge, I don't want to have a cartoon style. I don't really want a style . . . but Chip & Chunk need a makeover, perhaps this time they'll get rendered with intermediate pixelatin' skills. . .

Thanks guys. Although I look at this and kinda laugh now - 26 colors? That's too many. I better submit some new stuff soon.

This looks really nice but i like the colors on the preview better.  And i love the nose. Background is cool too, the line bubbles are pretty. The only thing i dont like so much is the hair. Keep up the good work.

Your work slipped by me first time around... very nice cartoon style and you've got some good pixel techniques too.  Keep it coming.

My dithering is pretty simplistic; could be a little better utilized. I can see that by looking at the Hall of Fame here. Shadow is just to ground the character where he stands, rather than let him appear to be floating, but you're right, and it is one of the things I dislike.

Thanks for the commentary, I really appreciate it!

Very obdervant and quick learner you are. Only thing of note for me is the 50/50 shadow which isn't really needed other than dither practice.
