Howdy peeps.  We are going to be slowly migrating Pixel Joint to another server.  There might be some down periods for the site while we transfer files and the database, but no data will be lost. Just wanted to keep y'all informed.

My email domain is actually down right now so if you get a bounce back don't worry about it.  Should have it fixed in short order.

Follks over at www.deviantart.com must love us pixelartists because they've devoted a whole issue of TWENTY to us. Featured are 20 active pixel artists in deviantart. I must say that I'm honored and humbled to be a part of the list. Do check it out and visit the other featured pixel artists homepages.

Check it out!

Personally, I think this is the best footage of the movie yet, and it looks very very cool. From what we can see here, part of the movie will explain Bruce Wayne's backstory, which hasn't been done on film yet. The costume looks wicked cool!

Can't wait to see the real thing.

Bullet Tooth Tony (Vinnie Jones) will most likely be playing the part of the Juggernaut in the upcoming X-men film. Can't wait to see how they pull that character off on the big screen.

If you are struggling with making GIF files transparent this is the tutorial for you. It references a completely free graphics application so everyone should be able to make their GIFs transparent.

Go to the tutorials section for all this and more courtesy of the benevolent pixelblink.

The biggest update this time around is the 'Weekly Showcase'.  We added this to give some extra attention to new pixel art pieces that are rated high.  This helps to counteract some of the issues of "bumping".  Other updates...

  • Updated the gallery viewer... added a five row option.
  • Added six new smiles to the forum and comments section (thx Blueberry_pie!)
  • Lightened main background color.
  • Added a feature page for the "L'il Dudes" Project -- more information to come on that.
  • We also updated the Pixel Joint link banners with iSTVAN's bitchin' nerd.

Whew!  We're well on our way to getting this site in shape.  Hellz yeah!

Holy flirking shnit! Graphic powerhouses  Adobe and Macromedia are joining forces.  I wonder which apps will get favor under this new arrangement. Hmmmm.

Check out Adobe's press release for more info.

In an effort to make the site easier to use we've made a few small changes...

  • Consolidated the disjointed gallery views of Pixel Joint (newest, highest rated, ordered by letter, etc.) into a single page. Simply click on the Gallery tab to access all the pixel art views now.
  • Replaced A to Z section with Features section so the goodies of the site are all in a single place.
  • Tightened the Header text so it doesn't take up quite so much room.
  • Created a skin file for the WYSIWYG.
  • Updated a few of the styles so hopefully the site is slightly more pleasant to look at.
  • Cleaned up a couple ugly Firefox specific design issues.

We'll be moving forward with a few new features soon including special awards, pixel projects, a contributor page and pixel artist interviews. Stay tuned.

The USDA added some tools today to target the recommended diet of a person based on age, gender and activity level.  I've been trying to eat better and get my ass in shape so this site was quite a nice suprise.  I guess they had to try something to help level off the escalating obesity problem in America.

Check out MyPyramid.gov to find out what you should be eating.

I was browsing chrisdiclerico.com's excellent blog today and came across an interesting site for all you artists out there...

It's called Draw a pig personality test and the whole concept seems a bit whacky, but I'm definitely going to give it a try later. I love the idea that you can learn something about a person by analyzing a drawing of a pig.

You can post your results in the comments section if you happen to do it.

Added a WYSIWYG editor to the comments, links and news sections so you can add your own formatting without having to know HTML or BBS code!  Huzzah!

The kickass editor will be listed under the upcoming contributor section of Pixel Joint so you can install it on your own site.

This ConceptArt.org thread is several months old, but I just had to post it anyway. Thundercats gets an awful lot of attention and the wildly popular Transformers and GI Joe cartoons were left out completely (unless I missed something). Quite odd.

Where's my Optimus Prime suckaz?

Check eeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

An exciting new project is the works. It's called The Joint and it's an isometric apartment building that you can create your own room for. Currently, we are discussing all the options in our forums and we'd love to have your input before the launch.

Pixel Joint plans to march straight to Ottawa and put an end to the tyrannical rule Canada has enjoyed over the good people of the USA. Those filthy Canucks have oppressed us long enough. Raze their cities, seize their hockey skates, eat their bacon and salt the earth! Let no moose be spared form your indignant wrath!

In other news... please enjoy an entertaining list of the top 100 April Fools pranks.
