After losing the interview he conducted in March 2008, NFG has finally found it and posted it on his site. Have a look if you want to hear what Henk has to say about working on Contra 4, the DS, Shantae and super secret future projects. This is the second in a series; part 1 is here.

It haunts all of us day and night. Happy or sad, it is always resting on your subconscious mind. That one thing that given the slightest thought will cripple you completely. Your biggest fear. For some it is the dark, some death. What ever your trepidation may be, it is time to take a step forward and face your phobia (or at least try to) by pixeling it to the best of your abilities. Attempt to let your canvas show the viewer why you are truly mortified by this evil we call "Fear". --- Since this is YOUR greatest cowardice, there are no restrictions, because fear has none.

Hi everyone!

Just an update for those wondering why I have stopped cleaning the PixelArt Galleries at deviantART and why there are so many miscategorizations in the Gallery.

One of my main roles when I was appointed Gallery Director for PixelArt at dA was to  keep the PixelArt Galleries clear of Miscategorized work. It took me about three or fours hours a day to do most of the cleaning.  Early in July all the Gallery Directors were told to stop doing any moving or cleaning of the galleries as the IT department are working on an auto move system.  As I understand it, if there is a regular type of miscat and a report is put in by a member, then an auto move to the correct category will take place. Obviously there needs to be some special safeguards needed to be built in to avoid abuse of the system.

So anyone who would normally report miscats at dA please keep doing it, you are not being ignored but this sort of IT program will obvious take time to put into place.

I am sorry if dA is currently a depressing place to look for PixelArt but I keep an eye out for your work in the Galleries and would love to DD feature it. I am only permitted to give a DD feature to the same artist no more than once in a three month period.

I really need good PixelArt to feature so if you aren't at dA yet, please join us and maybe your work will be the next Daily Deviation Feature to be faved by hundreds and viewed by thousands.

I hold regular PixelArt competitions...always with prizes, so it is a good idea to put me on watch so you know when a competition is happening.

Hope to see you at deviantART.

Best

Ann

The ASMS Gallery is hosting a Pixelart-specific show in its art gallery in September on Friday the 10th.  Which is where you come in.  Submit something, old or new, any subject matter, so long as the medium is pixel art.

We assumed that wasn't enough to sell you on the idea, so here's some incentive.
Though this is a show and not a competition, the entries will be judged and awarded accordingly.

Prizes are as follows:
1st Place- $100
2nd Place- $ 50
3rd Place- $ 25

There's no cost to enter, and you can submit old work- or use this as an excuse to make something new.  So there's little reason not to enter.

To enter, simply send the piece to my email at thereaintnocure@hotmail.com, or provide me a link in a private message here at the site.
It'd be very useful if you'd include your name, location (country/state), profession or student status, program used and any information you'd like to provide about the piece.

There is no limit on the number of entries, but prizes are restricted to one per person.

Deadline is the 23rd of September.
