A large reason I joined this site was part of my goal to distance myself from the modern centralized internet. I like places like these because they respect my time and inspire me to actively participate in something. Nearly every day I log onto pixel joint, see what cool art people are making and either feel inspired to do some pixel art of my own or move on with my day like normal. Modern social media is so heavily designed around hijacking your brain and stealing your attention for as long as possible, it makes places like this a breath of fresh air.
