The shading looks very good. It helps creating the heroic impression.

The scanline dithering looks nice. Maybe you could have done it with smaller palette. 4 should have been enough for that linear gradient.

Nice wiggle! I'd say you've done a pretty good animation there. It gives a great impression of the volume. You should definatley do more animations, because your first one is really promising.

That's wonderful! I just love the shading. You've really nailed the materials.

Erstus @ 12/18/2015 14:08 commented on 3 sprites

Thanks. I tend to prefer smaller canvas, because that prevents me from over-detailing.

Violet is my favorite black.

You've put the spectrum back together to shade that white mushroom. Amazing!

Very peaceful.
I'd love to sit by the tree there and read a good book or perhaps paint the clouds.

This is my favorite entry for the doom challenge. You've accomplished the depth, that original doom sprites have. This would fit well in the game.

little gunters :)

Erstus @ 12/2/2014 11:59 commented on PIXELGOT #9 Melisandre

That's my favorite so far. :)
It's really good, that you animated the lighting on her dress and face. Since other characters dont have this kind of subtle change, they lack the harmony, you've accomplished in this piece. Their contrast between static and moving parts is too harsh, making the bodies look extremely stiff. I know, that all those animations look super good, but ironically, that contrast is exactly what's making the characters look static. Maybe, if you're into testing, you could even try making them distort a little in the places that are not flapped by wind, so that they would appear to breathe. These are the thoughts i got when i tried to understand, why Melisandre looks the best for me. :)
Keep up the good work! ;)

Dithering done right!

A beautiful, mysterious way to depict darkness.

Nice clustering.

Pretty good, but 1:1 zoom would be great to see

Erstus @ 3/7/2014 04:17 commented on stickmen at large

Quite good animation. :)
But you could add some depth with colors.
Make left and right limbs differ so they dont get mixed.
Take a look at my "Like a Wind" for example.

#2 is technically superior and fits better with the environment. :)

Nice and compact sprite. Color ramps would be better if you made them tilted in hue, for example - pink to purple.

Erstus @ 12/31/2013 15:50 commented on Fireball

There are some red static pixels on 5-6-7 (diagonally in the center) which somewhat break the motion, but it's still amazingly smooth.
Great job!

I would surely love to roll on that grass. The ornamental(ish) style you found is fantastic.

The palette and pixel style feels somewhat nostalgic. Beautiful.

Thank you for the honour. It was a wonderful challenge. For celebration, I decided to finish up my palette test image. Have a look at the "Eye on Thou".
