Wow! Everyone gave me really kind comments! Thank you very much!

That's really good, but I'd like to see the full image animated as well as the thumbnail.

Speaking as someone who lives among saguaros I can say that Baobabs do not grow here, but in Africa. I love that you mixed them anyway, and the choice in colors and texture makes this piece a jewel.

Sounds like a good idea. I'll look into an updateing it some time this week.

user
sidhenart @ 6/5/2015 12:22 commented on Elder Thing

Ah! You made this elder thing! I love it. I'm also glad you like my take on the same creature! I give you props for keeping up the pentagonal symmetry with five wings, a lot of illustrators just give them two.

Thanks for the feedback. What you say is helpful. How would you reccomend I fix this problem? Its suppose to be more like a star shaped, five petaled flower with eyes in the middle of each petal. Perhaps if I re-did the left "petal" to look a little more like the one on the right, it would look less like a beak?

I love the mosaic or stain glass windows, and the goregeous pallette.

Sure! He has wings, they are described as great and dragon-like.

user
sidhenart @ 4/30/2015 13:23 commented on C is for Cthulhu

Thank you! Well what can I say? I have pension for making pretty uglies :D. When I sat down to do Cthulhu, I recalled how the Hindu deity Shiva looks, that one's an elegant one too, but is also the god of fire and destruction.

I am still pretty new to this forum. I wasn't sure they were allowed or not, but I submitted anyway, figuring the worst that could happen is they could say "no".

My worst nightmare woud be some unholy union between a spider and a jellyfish. I suppose night gaunts were lovecraft's worst nightmare though, at least from what I've heard of him.

I like how you were able to make the surface of the metal look so rough. If I were you I would remove some of the pixels from around the edge of the brain where the wrinkles are, so you can see the valleys formed by the wrinkles, and add a few highlights to make it look wet and slimy.

reguarding texturing a stone- its a funny truith that something so simple is actually pretty complicated.

I agree with bathmaster2000, seems a bit messy. Perhaps you are trying something new? I would say keep trying and perhaps you can perfect the style.

Perhaps try lowering the contrast on the whispy nebulae, brighten the stars and smooth out the moon a bit.

Thanks! Its my first time pixeling, but I have done etchings, paintings and sculpture all with insane amounts of detail:

In order to get some practice in the medium, I thought it would be a good idea to pixel monsters for each letter of the alphabet at around this scale. If I can do a Lovecraftian monster, I will, but I don't think there's one for every letter of the alphabet (although some of the difficult letters like Y are covered).

Its an amazing piece, but its palette is especially appealing to me. I hope one day to make a palette this good, but in the mean time, I'm going to study this piece of art.
