Very old suggestion but I didn't notice much response to it and I feel it's probably one of the more important features that is missing.

I just thought about posting the same suggestion but it was posted already. Anyway, it might be doable even now - wrap the in for example
and you'll get this (at least in Firefox): http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/2486/overflow.jpg

Left = without overflow, right = with overflow max-height

I was looking at a random pixel on the right earlier, and my mouse was below it and centered. When I moved my mouse to click on the name of the pixel, it hovered over the artist first. This brought up the pop-up menu, and I ended up clicking on report user. I'm thinking that in certain scenarios, the pop up menu script should be altered to where it won't overlap links.
This may be the weekly showcase, I don't know much about it, but here's my idea- each week on Sunday at GMT 12:00PM, the 10 pixels with the highest rating submitted since the previous Sunday at the same time will be added to the weekly showcase page. Maybe 10 showcase pages would be kept before being deleted for memory...
Once again, this may be the public cue, but I think there should be a privilege for users granted by administrators that allows the users to approve pixels, as to allow the pixels to go through quicker. Maybe the users' daily limit could go up with credibility given by trusted users every so often.
I don't think there should be the register box on the home page if you're logged in already.

All I can think of atm... Sorry I couldn't give more.

Some ideas I've had, and didn't see in the thread (yes, I've read all 4 pages):

- on my comments list, have something tell me if newer comments have been added, without having to actually open the piece to check; because some people (includes me) forget to hit reply, or reply to many comments at once, or just comment but don't reply.

- make ratings public, or at least one's own. Why aren't they anyways?

- a possibility of organizing one's own favs by artist, date of piece, etc.

- not have transparency count as a color (a piece without transp is a rectangle surrounded by transparency, right?)

- make it clear on lil'dudes, wees, the joint pages, that they are no longer welcome (still reads: If you want to show off your "L'il Dude" take the template below and go make some pixel art!)

- pieces are supposed to be classified by categories, but how does one access those? Either I haven't found out, or you can't. You should.

- scrap the bloody 10k preview limit, or at least raise it. 30-50 k would allow for nice anims.

- fix a page layout problem with strong text zoom factor (because of hi-res screen) and no image zoom (you know why): page headers are jumbled because layout doesn't follow text zoom; menus are on top of each other. If that's not clear I'll send a screen shot! :S

- when typing a search, have 'enter' validate it.

- I don't see the point to have piece titles repeated 3 times in the keywords, esp AOL Buddy Icons. Maybe there's one though.

Some ideas someone else had before me and I strongly support:

- when a piece was in a challenge, link to the whole challenge.

- fav an artist, or lookouts, or whatever.

- someplace for collab pieces, this is badly lacking... and allow them in individual galleries as long as no someplace is provided!

- direct link from forum profile to gallery.

- scroll large pieces.

- popup when hovering on previews - although I understand Jal's reserve. Maybe only for the queue?

- move the zoom buttons above the image.

- I'd love that frame-by-frame anim view, I doubt it's possible though.

Can't wait for V3!

Some valid points, but most are already known and will be addressed if/when pjv3 is out.

I just want to clarify something about transparency:

Transparency may not be a 'colour' per se, but it does take the place of one. This is not something which we've just come up with ourselves either; take an image with transparency (something with an irregular shape - not just a rectangular piece!) and open it with Photoshop, look at the colour table and you will find transparency listed as one of the colours.

Consider a two-colour piece, which takes up the whole rectangle, now if you were to add transparency and then modify the contour of the rectange, then you have an extra level to work with, thus giving your image more definition. Wouldn't it seem a bit wrong to label both the rectangular image and the irregular-shaped image 2 colour pieces.

Have a look at this piece by Big Brother, right now you can't really see the contour of his body; but if you gave the piece transparency, then you could be using the equivalent of another colour to define his outline - something you couldn't do without transparency or another colour.

----------------

Also, we did have a frame-by-frame viewer a long long time ago (in this galaxy).

Would be nice when viewing a weekly challenge piece, to be able to click a link to view all the entries for that challenge only, without having to trawl back through the news archives to find the initial post :)

I am slightly confused why there are two topics, why not simply merge this one with this one?

Anyway, crazy idea time. XD

You know how when you submit stuff and at the bottom there's that "submit for weekly challenge" checkbox? I think that it would be kinda nice to actually have the current weekly challenge rules right there as you submit. It will save a lot of headaches in the long run.

You can easily automate the whole process with an RSS feed to automatically update the current rules for the week.
