my first try with water. hope its okay.

wow the water looks rly sweet
what sort of help are u looking for with the boat?... its still pretty raw, but looks nice.... the perspective looks fine to me... should be a good starting point... just start refining Edited by onek - 23 February 2010 at 1:02pm |

That water is beautiful. I didn't realise that it was tiled!
Seconded about using that piece by jal as a reference, as well as photographs. I don't understand the loop things on the side of the boat, are they meant to be ropes? Try cleaning your lines, and block out shades and things. In this piece, I don't think that having a tall canvas is as interesting as in some of your others. Perhaps try longer horizontally? Here's an edit, I thought you needed a lighter blue to show surf breaking against the ship.

Somehow the masts don't look tall enough. Maybe they look set too far back in the boat. Maybe it's just the front one. Hard to say.
Nice peice though!

I think the perspective is off with the front of the ship. I made an edit moving the ridge line and the bowsprit.
And like my other comment...maybe not tall enough...or to much weight on top. Or something like that. lol
